Meant he’s been fit enough for a few weeks so it’s not his injury stopping him playing, he played for the U23s 3 weeks ago and was different class?
The answer is the first team is a much higher level and he’s currently not at that level. He will probably go on loan somewhere in January

Bassette does a lot of work like putting the keeper under pressure, yeah their keeper wasn't the best today but him getting in his face every time he got the ball made him panic.
I love Norm but he's just so raw , some of his touches , passes , movement were awkward today . He's got a bucket load of potential and can see why he's starting currently but I think Haji plays 9 when he returns

Players really rate him, heard from someone that it’s his Visa stopping him playing and not an injury, expect to see him after new years day ?
He's employed so it isn't a visa problem
This myth needs to stop being peddled, the club wouldn’t be able to register him as a player if he had issues with his Visa.
Let alone pretend to put him on the bench 😂

Today was a great little payback for everyone that travelled to Portsmouth away (in particular). First half, we played some great football and managed the game well in the second half, it was boring in parts but admire it. Only thing I’d change is Simms for Bassette as he’s more suited to the crosses Sakamoto and EMC put in the box and Bassette offers a lot off the ball and not a lot otherwise.

The big caveat is Plymouth. They look awful and can see them finishing rock bottom because they’re that bad. They didn’t cause many issues for Dovin so hoping he looks assured against Millwall and Cardiff.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all!

Glad to get the win, especially a convincing one which was needed after the Pompey fiasco

A word on Plymouth, I expected them to be limited but not that bad - They were dire, on a par with Rotherham last season - Credit to the fans who stuck it out, you are better football supporters than me

Not getting carried away, we won't play an easier game in a long time (in the League anyway) but it was nice to finally put a side to the sword, we need to back it up Sunday now

Eccles MOTM obviously and thought Latibeaudiere had a good game

Someone up there must love us , to be given a game after the dross at Pompey , a chance to redeem ourselves, as Plymouth looked to have Collins in goal & not a clue how to defend …….let’s hope we do the same to Millwall ?

Enjoyed us controlling the tempo second half.

It was a bore fest but really controlled performance.

Lati keeps his spot at CB for me now.
Unless there is some real bad blood and particularly in the instance of Lampard and Rooney where there is a mutual deep respect I do genuinely believe that 9 times out of 10 managers do not actively go out to humiliate other managers in games like that - If we kept the same intensity in the second half no exaggeration we could have won that 7 or 8 nil! Not that I expect the players to be running round like lunatics when the game is already won but I think Lampard probably just told them to pass it round until the end of the game partly out of respect to the opposition

The weird thing is with games like that yesterday is even though you are 4-0 it was actually of detriment to the atmosphere, which went completely flat in the second half because it was in reality a glorified training session

I did have EMC as my MOTM at the first thought because he was a massive threat at LW in the half. Taking a step back, Eccles had an imperious first half. Taking aside his two goals, his passing was genuinely top drawer stuff and his assist for EMC’s goal was poetry in motion.

Agreed on Eccles being MOTM because he was fantastic (credit where it’s due) but I do think the GK was Collins-esque (I.e. useless) for his second goal and arguably his first. That’s not taking anything from Eccles because both were great strikes of the ball and something missing in his game (and Sheaf’s) so long may it continue!

Looking forward to beating Millwall for the double! ‘Mon the boys!

He's just about the rawest (is that a word?!) player I can remember seeing but the manager obviously like him.
Be interesting to see what happens when Wrights fit.

Their keeper was dire

Imagine a game with him and Collins on the pitch, would finish about 8-5

I would continue with Norm right now. I’d rather have him working his socks off and making the opposition defenders work than Simms who regularly hides.
Haji will obviously have to be slotted in when fit though as he is our best striker.
The problem is, as I suspect will become clear when he returns, Haji is not a natural number 9. He doesn't work his socks off like Norm, nor have the aerial ability of Simms. He needs the little bit of space that he gets on the flank, or playing off the striker in a 2 up front.

He is a super player and I hope he can adapt to not being in his preferred position

To be fair, he’s good with both feet, so the other option could be to put him on the right wing?

Lots of lazy comments re Rooney.

Lowest playing budget by some distance, major players out injured, it is no surprise they are struggling.

It's not the lowest, it's lower end of course but their owner said they had extra money this year.

It's not like yesterday was a one off either. They have been awful away all season and concede goals for fun. Even more than us.

Rooney is not a good manager, it's not an agenda against him, but it was a poor appointment from them.

I thought Plymouth's no.18 was their bright spark - Looked a decent little player and head and shoulders above his teammates
Gyabi. Thought he was very inconsistent…didn’t do enough off the ball and was caught in possession a couple of times. Good on the ball though.
