Watched it last night on Netflix and wasn`t expecting much, but it was really good ( for an M. Night film )

It showed that he can do a half decent film, if he`s not trying to be a smart arse.

And then he undid it again with his film 'Trap'
Started off well, but it turned out to be a film just to promote his daughters singing career! Weird

Dune Prophecy.

What a let down compared to the films.

The cinematography, sets and production are really well done, but the acting from some of the supporting cast is just rank.

It`s like they`ve rounded up a load of students from a drama course and told them to get on with it.

The story line jumps all over the place making it difficult to follow and that`s without the various sub plots, that jump back and forth between different times.

Not even the excellent Mark Strong, Emily Watson and Travis Fimmel can save this one.

Caught up with the second series of Squid Games over the New Year. Has lost a bit of the mystery and magic of the first series, but still enjoyed it even if the ending felt sudden.

Not sure if it's on purpose so you're happy when they're killed off, but wow, so many of the side characters are unbearable.
The American voice actor dubbing makes it so much worse as well

Why would you watch it dubbed? 🤢

I liked that it didn’t just repeat the first season with new games, should have finished the season though, that wasn’t an ending.

I still have no clue what the films were about and I have seen them. Went to the cinema for the last one and there were some big worms and that, couldn't really tell you what it's meant to be about though!

It only gets weirder from here from what I understand.

Yeah, I'm regretting not going with the original subtitled version, so will have to revisit.

Agree about the ending, it was three episodes shorter than the first series I think, which would probably have been enough to finish it properly

Yeah I asked the missus how many episodes left and she was like “this is the finale” seemed way too soon.

Isn't it all fake?
Fake? In what way?

I was actually going to go on the show myself. 😁 But then had to go into hospital, so it all got scuppered.

I do think there is stuff they are told to say, but I wouldn't say it was fake.

Some of the episodes where 1hr 15 mins long, so I think they squeezed a bit more out of them time wise.

Overall I thought it was very well done.

They went in a different direction, by concentrating on the people involved in the games, rather than the games themselves, which to me made it more interesting and added a real human touch to it.

The natural temptation must`ve been to do more of the same, especially with it being a global hit, so you`ve got to give them credit for going another way with it.

There was a load more black humour this time, which I thought worked really well too.

I`ve read the first book a few times, so having a working knowledge of the plot really helps.

I`ve watched both films a few times now and I`m still picking things up every time I watch it again.

Yeah I e joyed it just hate it when a series doesn’t properly finish especially when it’s not billed as a two part series.

Nothing worse than a series not actually explaining things at the end. It pisses me right off.

"its open to interpretation"

Get to fuck.

I watched Juror Number 2 the other day, the ending just finishes and you have no idea what happens

Watching Man On The Inside on Netflix. Same people who did The Good Place set in a retirement home starring Ted Danson.

Nice gentle comedy. If you liked The Good Place you’ll like it.

It's intentional. Scriptwriters know their only chance of continued employment is to write an open ending even when they're told long in advance it will be the series finalé. There's always the hope a series will be brought back at some future date (which it sometimes is).

Just finished a nine parter on FX - Say Nothing.

Dramatisation, based on the true events of the IRA bombing campaign in the 70’s.

Really good cast, although it’s hard getting your head around the lad who played the smack head Marco in the Responder playing a young Jerry Adams !

Well written and watches very much like something you’d normally see on BBC2 or C4
Just wanted to come back and say a big thanks for this recommendation!

I hadn’t heard of it but have a keen interest in ‘The Troubles’ so this went straight in to my watch list and it was just excellent from start to finish!!

I worked out which ones I despised as soon as they were on the train 😂
They’re quite an unlikeable bunch this year which should make for a great series!

Although I do like Minah and think she’s playing very well. Oh and Leanne……..but for completely different reasons.

Which one's Leanne? The ex soldier?

Not my type at all. I would be more interested in the vicar. 😁😂🤪

I don't think Armani is going to last long at all and is most likely to be thrown under the bus by her fellow traitors.
