If it's true that we were in for a CM on deadline day but fell through due to an injury, it's beyond incompetence at this stage that we are 10 days into January and seemingly no closer to bringing in a midfielder, and this is before Sheaf's injury. You have to question what the recruitment team have been doing for the past 3 month. The funny thing is DK is probably scratching his head as to why so many people are not bothering going tomorrow.

Another potential midfield target gone now

It’s a global sport and we are a second tier team trying to sign players that tier 1 teams in other countries also want. We will inevitably miss out on quite a few.

The big thing we have to offer is to be a stepping stone club to the premier league. That’s why we do have to sell one or two to bigger leagues to demo that to targets of the future.

Brighton have done this brilliantly. When they say to players and agents that joining them ca. lead to them joining one of the big 6 they have lots and lots of examples to prove that.

To be fair if last night is anything to go on, the Fa cup third round doesn’t have the same draw it used to have.

On the recruitment, we may of had people lined up but recently had a change in manager meaning a potential change of targets. Still plenty of time

Im not sure you fully understand how recruitment and transfers actually work. Many reasons why transfers dont happen quickly or at all.

The Premier League or we’ll sell you higher is going to be a lot harder to sell to players compared to when we’d just lost the play off final

Can’t imagine players like Wright & MvE being convinced to join now
Kinda why we have to sell MVE or Wright in the summer imo. Sounds bizzare but we’ve made a promise to players and will continue to make said promise. We had Vik as evidence, we’ll need to show that we mean it to have the hope we can recruit more of the same.

Yep players of Wright/MVE calibre aren't going to want to join a team 17th in the league, and the actual Wright and MVE aren't going to want to stay at a team 17th in the league. So we're going to lose our best players and have a hell of a job trying to replace them with the same quality.

So it feels like we might have to have a couple of years of not challenging while we try and rebuild with some prospects or unknown signings that hopefully come good.

Looking at it another way, the only squad to get us into a play off position wasn't made up of big money signings.
Same as the team that won it that year. Or even Blackburn this year (still time granted but looks like they’ll be around the playoffs).

Yeah - people are probably not going tomorrow because of that.
I reckon that's why Sheffield United fans didn't bother yesterday, because they hadn't bought extra cover if hamer has picked up a niggle. Are you going tomorrow? I am. If we had signed Thomas Nickernacker from AZ Alkmaar (who we'd both know nothing about) does that mean thousands more would have turned up? (and he probably wouldn't have started anyway). Fact is, we know nothing about what is going on behind the scenes. Just support the club/team.

Galatasaray's right back is from Championship! Offer is on the way
Galatasaray has decided to make an offer for Coventry City's Dutch right-back Milan van Ewijk, which is on their agenda.

Galatasaray, who could not get the performance they wanted from Elias Jelert, who joined the squad at the beginning of the season,…

It'll take a very good bid to get us to sell our only rb in January, i'm not concerned about that yet.

The point I was trying making about not going tomorrow was more to do with the disillusioned feeling within the fan base and how a signing (or the rumours of one at least) can help turn that around after the low from Saturdays melt down. Granted it does not come across that way on my initial post. On tomorrow, yes I will be there (and paying £35 for the privilege for my seat in club cov may I add the robbing bastewards) as I will be at Blackburn, and have been at all but 1 away game this year.
