Where you all off to this year? Any trips booked or planned? Usually most of you have far more exotic vacations than my sun, sea and relaxation trips.

As always we're limited to school holidays and from what I've found so far, we can go 5 star all-inclusive to places like Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia, for not much more than we'd spend on European self-catering and then adding spends.

Found a few nice ones in Hurghada (Egypt) but not sure what else is round that way or how safe off-complex some of these places are. Not that we're massively into sight-seeing, but don't want it to feel like a prison camp either, so if anyone has been or has other recommendations, please share.

Not too exotic but off to London next weekend for my birthday. Going to see Inside No 9 and Stranger Things and probably add in a couple of museums.

Then off to Sfântu Gheorghe, Romania at the end of April to support GB in the ice hockey world championships. Properly in the middle of nowhere so will probably end up staying in Brasov.

Got an absolute ton of Virgin airmiles so maybe something further afield later in the year. Would like to visit the NASA Kennedy Space Center so maybe use the airmiles for that and get a cheap hotel or air bnb. Although I find once I've taken a week off in April then random days off to deal with life stuff there's not likely to be enough leave left for an week in Florida and going for anything shorter seems a waste of a trip.

Going to an all-inclusive in Paphos for our eighth wedding anniversary in May. We've never been to an all-inclusive before and are very excited!

Few nights in the ‘Dorm in Feb as some of the Missus’ family will be out there.

Looking at a cheap week in the sun in March (probably Tenerife) and then probably a couple of little weekenders later in the year (been wanting to do both Berlin and Ljubljana for years so hopefully at least one of them.

Also, going away with a few of the lads in May (probably Poland) for a couple of nights of debauchery.

Just having a look at a number of work trips as well so looks like it could be quite a busy year.

A few Budapest mentions in here. Went just before Xmas. Incredible city. Jealous of those with upcoming trips.

The kids have decided that they want to go to the seaside once a month this year. Just got back from a weekend in Blackpool, kids loved it. I tolerated it.

Couple of days in Bude next month. Last time I was there it was full of City fans!

Need to plan March next

Currently in New York, but spent the weekend in Boston which was an awesome city. Got work this week in New Jersey but will come back to New York for next weekend.

Not sure about the rest of the year yet. Think we'll pack the car up and take the dogs to Spain for an extended break in a few months. Don't get much holiday, but work remotely so definitely has its perks.

Our company had a factory in Brasov so visited many times with customers. You’re not far from Vlad’s castle, worth a visit. As is the Black Church. Years ago stayed in Poina Brasov and it was lovely just like the Austrian Alps. This was when Causescu was still around so you could get 4x the official exchange rates for £s and $s. Romanians could only get luxury goods at Dollar shops.

Hadn't heard of the Black Church, will pay that a visit.

Sfântu Gheorghe is such an odd place to have an international tournament, and the arena is actually just outside the city. Makes the CBS look like its in the city centre 😂

Virtually no airport (even Brasov only has a couple of flights a week) no hotels, no public transport goes near the arena. Bit like having a big international tournament in Nuneaton!

Off to Turkey (initially) on an English Heritage members' offer in late April.
The first week is visiting various heritage type sites, and then we transfer to a hotel in Rhodes Town for the second week, which is free-to-do-as-one-wishes time.
It was a ridiculously cheap offer, so hopefully it won't be too crap.
We'll also be spending lots of time gadding in the campervan for the rest of the summer and Autumn, all being well.

Doing a posh 5* All Inclusive in Spain (Costa Dorada) at Easter.

hopefully squeeze in a long Weekender to Copenhagen or Malmö later in the year. Toying with visiting Tromsø at Christmas but whether I can afford it or not is another matter......

Great to hear! Any recommendations beside the usual hiking spots etc would be appreciated.

The Botanical Gardens are a must see. Even if you've no real interest in that kind of thing it's just visually spectacular. One of the best places in the world for Dolphin and Whale watching so try and get on a trip if you can. Nuns Valley has spectacular views and plenty of local history if that's your thing.

Blandys Wine Lodge tour is well worth doing. The museum is interesting and the tasting is very generous.

Was disappointed at Kennedy Space Center of all the places we went in Florida, Kennedy just didn't cut it for me, mainly because you view a lot of it from a tour bus and don't get close enough to appreciate how immense the vehicle assembly building/launch pad are(to me it was similar to viewing a vast Amazon warehouse from the motorway). Walking under Saturn 5,up close to a space capsule and shuttle were the best bits for me.

Been to a few of the Makadi hotels in Hurgharda and found it ok leaving complex but its not for the faint hearted you will get hassled into buying stuff you don't want. Its not a bad idea at to befriend someone working at the hotel and get them to show you the way outside, we've done a few times without problems, also trips from hotels are plentiful (buggy's over sand dunes,Boat trips, hot air balloons there's loads).

Oh and if you can live with the possibility that you might shit yourself then the bus service around the coast road is hilarious!

1970s buses with slidy vinyl seats and no seats belts and every single one of the drivers thinks he Sebastian Loeb 😂

Back from Florence, managed to fit in a Serie A match that Fiorentina promptly didn't turn up for but was a great experience all the same.

Florence in general was brilliant, given it was February it was still really busy, not sure id fancy it in high season to be honest. If anyone is going any time soon id definitely say to visit the Central Market and the Medici Chapel, the latter had a vibe of a Resident Evil level where the statues come alive (thankfully these didn't). Absolutely spectacular.
