We get 10% of Sporting's profit, was 15% but we sold 5% early to sign BTA and Bassette.

this is incorrect. sporting settled early as they’d already paid some of the add ons and knew that if they paid the remainder it would reduce the sell on percentage from 15% to 10%. Just common sense from their perspective due to likely sale value

Ahh lovely the deja vu thread is back!

We get 10% of Sporting's profit, was 15% but we sold 5% early to sign BTA and Bassette.

They spent roughly £21mill (€24mill). If they sell him for €100mill we will get €7.6mill (£6.4mill at todays exchange rate). If they sell him for €80mill we get €5.6mill (£4.7mill at todays exchange rates).

Also from this you can imply that our value of BTA and Bassette was £3.2mill - £4.1mill which I'd say roughly tracks as good business.

Not sure we could trigger it. I think it had to be Sporting.

Brighton qualify for a pay on because the deal was that they get a proportion of any profit City make.

Depending on who you believe, BHA might get 50% of anything City make now

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

SPORTING CLUBE DE PORTUGAL – FUTEBOL, SAD (hereinafter referred to as Sporting SAD) hereby informs, in compliance with the obligation set forth in Article 17 of Regulation (EU) No. 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council, dated April 16, that an agreement has been reached with Coventry City F.C. (hereinafter referred to as Coventry) regarding the acquisition, on a permanent basis, of the sporting rights of the player Viktor Gyökeres, for the amount of €20,000,000.00 (twenty million euros), to which an additional amount of up to €4,000,000.00 (four million euros) may be added, conditional upon achieving individual and collective performance objectives.

Additionally, Coventry retains the right to receive an amount corresponding to 15% of any future transfer profit, a percentage that may be reduced to 10% at Sporting SAD’s discretion depending on the partial fulfillment of the aforementioned individual and collective performance objectives.

Furthermore, it is announced that a sports employment contract has been signed between Sporting SAD and the player, valid for five (5) sports seasons, i.e., until June 30, 2028, including a termination clause valued at €100,000,000.00 (one hundred million euros).

It is also clarified that the solidarity mechanism due to clubs will be covered by Sporting SAD and that the amounts related to intermediation services related to this transfer will amount to €2,200,000.00 (two million two hundred thousand euros).

Last paragraph is saying Sporting will pay the sell on Brighton and it was €2.2m. Which suggests either an 11% sell on or 10% with a bit accounting for sell ons.

That was my understanding but it's a bit strange as King said:

“Viktor has gone crazy in terms of how he has performed," King told talkSPORT. "That was a tough negotiation with Sporting Lisbon and if he does move on to somewhere else in his career then we will benefit. I’m not holding my breath. We are not running the club on that basis, but we will take it.

A large part of that will go to his original club Brighton, everyone seems to think it will go straight in the coffers but it will go down the chain. You need to be bringing them up from your academy to get the full 100 per cent.”

King says a lot of things.

VIK is a good player BUT not sure he’s worth that kind of fee 80mill won’t complain though. He's performed in the Championship and according to this BBC article he almost can’t win the European Golden boot because the Portuguese league is only 7th best in Europe so he’s not in the mix as you have to perform in top 5 leagues which he never has at 26 years of age !

Surely this has got to be Arsenal’s chance. City blown it, Forest to eventually start to falter and can Liverpool continue their form? Looks like only Arsenal as real competition. Sign a striker (hopefully Vik) and they stand an excellent chance of overtaking Liverpool.

There chances would be significantly better. In the back of my mind Arteta will find a way to balls things up.
