You'll find it easy today we are lacking our better players and are fucking terrible this season.
Unbeaten at home under Lampard (5 games?) despite being fecking terrible. Missing EMC, Wright and Sakamoto for chunks of that. We will improve, just need to be patient (not a trait a lot of football fans have)

The failure to settle on the best lineup in literally any part of the pitch this season has really been our undoing.

It has, but like I said, it happened under Robibs but he'd usually got a more settles line up by late autumn/early winter but this, season we've brought in a new manager who looks to be going through the same process.
Losing our 2 left sided attacking players when the intention is to play 4 3 3 didn't help.

The heightened expectations ahead of this season were predicated on Robins not needing to do major surgery on our starting XI - it was very strange and disappointing that we spent so much of the first part of the season cycling through different lineups and formations when it was supposed to be a season of continuity.

The best summary of the situation I have seen. Very disappointing that this was happening when the opening fixtures appeared to be so favourable.

All the right notes but in the wrong places

The lack of continuity was very disappointing and is ultimately why what happened, happened.

And that is why some players from that era ended up struggling to walk or with Alzheimers. There is a reason Vic doesn't head the ball much for a centre forward.
Give a player an injection and send him out was the norm, along with try to cripple the opposition. Pele playing against Argentina in the 1966 World Cup comes to mind. That was not football.
That is why so many clubs rotate these days.
70s and 80s footballers were a load of pissheads, even our 1987 cup winning team.

Exactly this, that original post was a rose tinted view of the 70s. Just because you can flog a player into the ground doesn't mean you should. Players need rest, especially pacy players. even the ability to take MvE off if we are winning would be a bonus..

Binning off Dovin so quickly was an early red flag. I suspect had he kept his place we’d have quite a few more points on that basis alone.

Even allowing for MR’s mistakes though, we still saw things on the pitch that made no footballing sense.

Spot on. It was mess. No consistency, leaky defence (yet Kitching still not being given an even a sniff), Mason Clark consistently being shoved out on his wrong side, strikers in no rhythm or confidence. It was like the first time Robins had got a squad where the subs/squad players were up to a level where they could replace the ‘first team’ players he didn’t know what to do

Thats why however much I’ll always appreciate what Robins did for us and although I thought he should’ve been given a bit longer due to past achievements, I couldn’t really blame King for thinking WTF is going on

As someone who lives close to stadium and doesn't need to drive to the area in match days can anyone say what time it gets busy on a444 and surround roads like winding house and burbages etc?

I'm currently at the gym and debating wether I need to cut it short and get back before I get stuck in traffic?

Thanks

I feel like managers might overthink how to counter the opposition rather than trying to impose upon them. It happened with Robins and it's seemingly happening again with Lampard.

I always think it’s an indication of how the manager views the team and the run of form (or not) the team is on.

If we were play off contenders and flying, I’d be expecting us to play our own game and style.

As things are, with key players out, average form and low confidence, I can see why he is deferring to defensive ie trying to adapt to them rather than imposing.

Not a fan of that, but I see his logic.
