Mike Ashley rumours (2 Viewers)

Yeh, but that’s the entitled Geordies for you. They weren’t winning the Champions League every season so Ashley was no good. In reality a lot of money was pumped into the club under Ashley, he made mistakes (Joe Kinnear) but there were/are a hell of a lot of worse owners out there.
I think they were pissed off at the ground being renamed too... Something that has now become common place. I'd like to see him involved personally a lot more experience and clout than Doug. Not that I don't think he has been good for the club too!

Bit disrespectful to call Doug a cooking oil sales man. He’s more successful than your average Joe.

Before owning Coventry, King had other business interests that allowed him to purchase the Championship club.

The businessman is the CEO of Yelo Enterprises, which is a sustainable farming organisation, and is claimed to be at the forefront of the UK food and agricultural industry, as stated on their website.

King has recently invested £70 millionin the business, as they are constructing a state-of-the-art oilseed processing facility that uses renewable energy.

King also has another business, and that is RCMA Capital LLP, which he co-founded and majority owns.

King started his career with the food company Cargill and came through the ranks with the company. After 10 years, he left the company to become head of global petroleum trading for Crown Resources, as well as an energy marketing consultant. He then founded Aisling Analytics in 2004 along with his business partner.

The Coventry owner is said to be very wealthy, as he’s got his own businesses as well as Coventry football club. It is hard to put an official figure down, but according to some outlets, King is said to have a net worth of around $400 million.

It's been a rumour for 2.5 years now. It was bollocks then and it's bollocks now

What self respecting businessman who is worth billions would let a cooking oil salesman with no football knowledge have a go at running the club and then picking it up after him?

If he wanted us when he got the ground, he would have done without question
Come on Dawkins, you need to let go of your bitterness towards DK 🤣

A mate sent me a link to the Festa forum yesterday. Some of the fans now want new ownership and want the Thai lot gone.

Obviously it's no longer the dad in charge, but it did make me reflect on how fickle us football fans can be to ownership.

That's not a dig at anti King posters here. But ultimately the dream owner is massively wealthy, not too involved in running the club, doesnt appear in public 😂
To be fair since Vichai died they've been run pretty bad (compared to what they were)

Partly understandable, my dad once owned a car garage and if he had gone before his time I'd have had no clue what to do with it

The lad should just hand it over to someone else cause off the pitch they have lost their way massively

No, he's doing a fine job

They're complaining now but this is basically the consequence of them trying to live with the big boys, which they all wanted

As for Dawkins he ain’t got a penny to buy the club and he might know some people to introduce but he really isn’t in a world where he deals day to day with HNWI business and investment people.

The rot started when the father was still there. Immediately following the premier league win they started paying way over the odds salaries to players in a bid to become a Champions league team. At one point they had the 5th highest wage bill in the league. It was a totally unsustainable approach.

They are still doing it now …..

After his dad died they chased the Champions League, accrued a vastly overpaid and overrated squad in doing so who absolutely flopped finishing in the Top 4 on the final day two seasons running and now they are paying the price for it

Also worth noting that King Power make their money through Duty Free in Airports and over that time as well travel was severely limited due to COVID

In that time though they flogged Kante to Chelsea and Maguire to United so their lavish spending kind of paid for itself for a period

That money ran out and they continued to hemorrhage money on shit

Their wage bill by 2021 was £192m a year
They signed Conor Coady in the summer of 2023 as they entered the championship.

They gave him his best ever football contract even though he was stepping down a division and arguably his best years were behind him.

4 yr deal on £75k a week …. He couldn’t believe his luck.

Doesn't he also own a hedge fund?
It's a multi faceted portfolio, Finance, Agri Chemicals/Livestock feeds/Agri fuel oils, cosmetics and personal grooming, he even owns some sort of stud farm in Solihull.

Basically I am getting strong Dr Evil vibes.😁
