I'm just saying that his autism probably contributed to his silly chest pump and his lack of awareness .
Putin will make use of this, and other aspects of the inauguration, to depict America as Nazi, racist, expansionist, arrogant and egotistical.

Musks autism / Asperger’s won’t get a mention.

Being concerned about what people are saying is entirely valid , overreacting to a stupid awkward chest pump is just about right for the world today , it's a big load of nothing
This isn’t happening in a vacuum though. I don’t think the reaction to the “chest pump” is anything like what it has been without the months and months of Musk saying other bonkers stuff.

I think some people over here see them shagging who they want, screwing over who they want, saying what they want, airing their repugnant views publicly… and not only getting away with it but getting rewarded for it. Trump & Musk are doing and saying what some people would love to do & say themselves if they could get away with it. A pretty bad indictment of the society we currently live in really.
Certainly a bad indictment of American society.

Oh you see it here too, just not as extreme. And every attempt to talk about it is met with huge partisanship between the ‘left ‘ and the right’ so you end up miles away from what you were talking about in the first place. Maybe I’m just getting old, but it feels like we are heading in a very dangerous direction at the moment- everywhere.

I'm sure most on here will find almost all iof his actions and decisions over the past 24 hours pretty reprehensible and yet, it demonstrates what successive governments in the UK from both sides, who have hid behind bureaucracy and red tape, can make change quicker if there was an appetite to do so.

Sure it's mostly small soundbite stuff that was promised on the campaign trail and mostly only repealing what the last administration put in place, but so much possible in such a short time we could learn a great deal here.
Not really as it would have to go through parliament, the institution and processes of which exist for very good historical and practical reasons.

What do you mean by “the nonsense”?

Pendulums swing, I’d agree that we probably need to swing back in some areas, but the concern that once that swing back starts it’ll also go too far the other way as pendulums do is a fair one.

I’ve got mates in America genuinely concerned they’ll lose their job for having the wrong political beliefs. And maybe Trump is just joking, or maybe he’s not, it’s the uncertainty.
I think there’s a lot of democrat folk in the USA concerned that they’ll lose their BS federal job or even have to now turn up to an office rather than work from home.

(For full disclosure, IMO hybrid working, particularly for women with kids, can work out well)

Nothing to do with WFH. He’s talking about purging people with liberal beliefs from govt.

I think that’s a huge conjecture and a massive conspiracy leap.

The evidence is that Putin wants the war to stop whilst at the same time save face.

Biden / Burisma / Blackrock are the ones that need scrutiny. Luckily, Biden pardoned everyone and their dog despite “nothing wrong”.

Ok mate.

A high proportion of people with liberal beliefs work in government. This I agree.

There are a lot of people in government jobs who toss it off because they can and it costs taxpayers and private enterprise.

Argentina slashed government waste and pointless departments. It seems to have worked.

Lazy liberals (not all liberals are lazy, some are just not very astute) are rightly worried.

How many public sector jobs have to worked to come to this opinion out of interest? I toss off far more in the private sector than I ever could in the public.

And you don’t know my friend or their work ethic. And again, it’s nothing to do with the work they’re doing but the beliefs they hold.

and there we go- everything is about whose side you’re on. Zero attempt to have any kind of discussion around what’s wrong, just pick a side and defend it no matter what. Politics is no different to religion now.

Just out of interest have you ever met any of these lazy public sector liberals..
Nah.

Got into a discussion about this as a teacher (perhaps the worst profession to accuse of being lazy) with a kid. When I asked this he said “oh my dad (who gave him his views) says when he does a council job he always drags his heels”

I refrained from pointing out that in that case it was his dad who was lazy.
