long way home

Lampard and coaches are doing an unbelievable job with the player evaluations. They have identified certain players weaknesses and basically got hold of each and everyone of them and pushed them to improve. Its working as individually and collectively they are performing.

Now we can say luck at times but its amazing when players work harder and follow the right instructions the luckier they seem to get. Our performances will be the last thing that will come and that will be worth the wait. FL is definitely with his name and coaches he picked are making big improvements and impressions by the look of it.

After some sleep a couple comments .

Thought frank did a couple of things really well yesterday , the timing of the binks substitution to replace him with thomas , and also the switch to a 541 to counter the Blackburn momentum after their subs were 2 very good bits of management .

I thought second half we were mostly very decent and the second goal was a very good move by city .

I’m with you on both of those. Also thought we had planed to target Pears at set pieces which still worked well against their stand in keeper.

Only slight criticism I felt taking Simms off almost gave them an avenue back into the game but I was encouraged that he was willing to make a change that late unlike the last few games

He's made good changes to counter changes made by the opposition in the last 3 games, (a bit earlier v Wednesday and we might have avoided ET and pens but that would have been no fun!).

Watch Frank L on the overlap with Garry Neville etc Frank comes across as super intelligent guy ! It does seem he is a bit introverted though when doing post match interviews, no eye contact and a bit uncomfortable. Anyone else noticed?

For a couple of games, then brought him back.
He played the majority of the games Robins managed.

You said he wouldn't play him, which is factually incorrect.
Come on Clint we all know that having 3 keepers after 12 matches and constantly changing them is mad. It’s ok to admit that. You can still love Mark and admit that he called some things wrong.

Yes. I think he’s a modest hard working guy, i also think he knows that our current performance levels are fragile. We could have easily lost the games we won and won the games we lost away at Norwich and Pompey Had we buried our chances. Too early to imply too much confidence.

For what it’s worth think yesterday was his best showing.

Made some brave calls to start, pivoted formation to directly counter them and allowing us to get back on top. After they had made all their subs so couldn’t react.

I think anyone would be a bit introverted if you’d just had Milan trying to get you doing fist bumps to the crowd hahaha

But no seriously I do think he’s a bit uncomfortable during those interviews

Robins didn’t pick Collins once this season and only left out Dovin for 3 of his 14 games. One of which we kept a clean sheet in. Where has this myth came from?

I was merely pointing out a fact, he said Robins never played Dovin, he did, in the majority of his games.
Are you trying yo argue that isn't true?

Could we do it again…
We went on a run, from this point, where we lost one of our last 19.
Will need that type of form.
Also, let's be honest, if we are going to do that we need some quality additions that will improve our starting 11 if we are to pick up points against the top sides such as Leeds, Sheffield United etc.

Big ask with what we currently have - even with injuries returning.

I thought Wilson was injured v Derby having preferred Wilson for 6 games? Carr had to pick Collins in his first game as Dovin had an injury I thought.

Possibly.
But his statement was still incorrect.

And it was Carr who brought Collins in. I understand why Lampard stuck with him but thankfully that's now over.

We’ve had this conversation already, robins dropped him for 3 games for no reason ?

And Lampard dropped him for five for no reason.

It was consensus at the time that lack of communication and leadership was an issue at the back. That’s why Wilson came in.

I see what you've done there!
