Is it fair to say the Premier League is becoming a bit of a closed shop now, even more so than previously? Last season there was a pack of 4 teams who ran away at the top, with Ipswich the surprise club who managed to keep the pace. This season - again - another pack of 4 clubs running away. Sunderland have done well to keep pace, but possibly falling away a little now.

The Championship could be considered one of the best league's in the world, but it's becoming uncompetitive and predictable. Surely there's a better way.

The gap is getting bigger.

Southampton could break the record for lowest points total but will no doubt be chasing autos next season. Sheff U were terrible and have been the best team this season.

A team like Bournemouth would not be able to survive multiple seasons at the level previously. Now they’re beating AC Milan to signings.

I think it’s tactical. Southampton and Leicester had delusions of grandeur thinking they were going to play the same way in the Prem as they did in the Championship. Same with Burnley the season before. Managers like Maresca, Martin and Kompany have a fixed idea of how to play the game irrespective if they’re a strong or weak team. Managers like Moyes and Dyche have pragmatism to play a brand of football that was uneasy on the eye but got results.

As for Ipswich, back-to-back promotions was going to make it difficult to stay up in the Prem. Sheff Utd have been a fortunate basket case and bank rolled by parachute payments.

It’s purely an academic exercise now, but I believed we had a decent chance of survival had we won promotion in 22/23. We would’ve had a nice budget and would have likely kept Vik and Hamer.

Simultaneously agree with above statements about the gap growing but also that we *might* have survived last season.

It’s less than 3 seasons since all the promoted clubs, Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest all survived and have gone on to become mainstays of the prem.

We’d have had to get rid of everyone else though!

No. At that point I think they have got to give all the money back.

Fulham and Bournemouth already had Premier League stints with a lot of cash and were bouncing back

Forest are the outliers having not been in the Prem for so long (like us), but it took a ridiculous amount of signings and breaking FFP

As much is i'd like them to, Sunderland aren't showing any signs of dropping off yet.

Be amazed if they weren't comfortably in the playoffs.
