Dean Austin position untenable (6 Viewers)

We've only just moved into the top half so let's not be too quick to say we have a top 6 squad now. A lot of improvement and additional reinforcements is still required to get this team near or into the top 6
It’s more the fact people were calling them league 1 players

Give dean his due. He's not wasted money and some posters need to admit that.

The Barnsley boys are doing very well, well the outfield ones anyway

Dovin mve rudoni wright emc Simms all have potential to make it big. Some hidden gems in there like saka and torp too.

We'd double our money on most apart from Collins and Saka. Big summer ahead, again!

realistically the recruitment isnt as bad as we all thought and actually we were all just lashing out after bad form and a legend being sacked

somebody has to say it
I did many times....ages ago, and people had a go at me and called me a troll.

I never got on board with recruitment being poor.

Couple of questions really:

1. Is Austin that bad or is it more that our expectations are unrealistic in believing every signing to hit the heights of Vik / Hamer?
2. Is the criteria he's given too data focussed and / or too potential future returns focussed?
3. Is the season's performance now solely down to the quality of the squad?

Think we’ll 10x our money on Dasilva.

There was comments that we had spunked £45m.

I think there’s very few players in the squad we wouldn’t get atleast 75% of the fee back invested if we were to sell them.

We didn't all think it though. Some of us have tried in vain all season to counterbalance the absurd bollux that's posted on here after every defeat. It reaches the point where you just have to sigh and let it go.

Well there wasn't, we've strung some wins together now. I didn't say he'd taken us backwards.
You were saying it after Pompey

He got wins and draws early into his tenure let's be honest. 6 wins 3 draws 3 losses. We have had a bounce from the new manager it's that simple. Just admit you weren't sold on him and you let that effect your judgement.

We have got a top 6 squad. What we didn't have was a top 6 side.

Hats off to Lampard. We're missing 2 of if not our 2 best players from injury yet we're playing our best football since last season. I have thought all season we could end up in the top 6 until the Norwich result. Couldn't see it aftthat game. Just too soft. Bit since then we've been a different side.

Keep this up and we will be in the top 6 by the end of February.

I think you'll find I was quite positive about his appointment actually

Pompey was the worst result and performance of the season, it was objectively a backwards step

Yet our downfall in that game was really down to the ref as last week Lati bought two of those decisions that was not given at Norwich?

It’s missing our 3 best players. Haji Wright is still our top scorer and he hasn’t played in 2 months.

It could’ve been 4 wins on the bounce with a bit of luck. We didn’t deserve to lose v Norwich and a difficult away draw would’ve been a positive result.

Simms, Torp, EMC on 4 apiece and Asante on 5. 14 different players have scored.

Makes you think where we’d be this season if we just started Kitch and Dovin and stuck with them.
Dovin is a better GK than when he arrived. He has admitted so. Taking him out the side will benefit both him and us for the future. Not only did he need time to settle in but he wasn't confident enough to be heard by the defence and to help organise it.

Wasn't Kitching injured?

Dovin's kicking has really come on, he was struggling to get distance early doors but he's brushed up his technique.

Are we allowed to praise Mr Williams coaching for that?

Whoever is involved in coaching our players presently deserves praise. Dovin is going to be a class GK. The defence are keeping a tight line and catching players offside without making stupid mistakes. The midfield are going forward instead of sideways and backwards. Also mixing it up with some cracking long balls. And the strikers are getting into the box more.

The coaches brought in by Lampard have and are making a huge difference.

No Kitching wasn’t injured
