He basically does what Allen's been doing the last few games, really really well

Yeah - probably means Allen dropping into the periphery again.

Torp, Rudoni and Sheaf will be big beneficiaries playing alongside. He'll knit everything together

Bit disappointed by this as per my previous comments on Grimes. Players react to different managers tactics etc so not saying it’s going to be a bad signing, but for me he’s not what we need. Often see him strolling around the pitch not putting a foot in when he should, etc. don’t get be wrong he has a wand of a left foot but I think he’s more of a luxury player than what we need….. unless that’s how the swans coaches have asked him to play and he’s a workhorse being held back.

You've got to have a mix of youth and experience in the squad, and hopefully Lampard has identified the lack of a proper captain who can lead by example and rally the team when things get tough.

I agree though that this is the kind of signing you make when you're planning to make a real go of it in the next one or two seasons.

He's already identified the lack of a proper captain and now he's playing him!

Allen, all due respect to him, is a useful role player. Nothing more, nothing less.

He’s put in a fine string of performances and lately and deserves all the plaudits he’s getting. There’s levels to this and players like Sheaf and Grimes are just 2-3 gears ahead of him.

This isn't something that comes up overnight, assuming this was happening at the same time as Matondo negotiations so there is a little money there even without someone like BTA moving on.

Agree there. Allen is now in a position where if his contract is extended and he is asked to cover a run of games then none of us would complain at all, however would we want him as a permanent player in that position probably not.

View from a Swansea home and away season ticket holder below. Also says Grimes has put in a transfer request.

Haha. Stats say he's a class midfielder. Fans say he's "mediocre".

Hes been one of the stand out midfielders in the league for number of years.

Case of you dont always appreciate what you have sometimes. Hes just a very good footballer for the role he plays.

Appreciate as fans you are always a little bitter, similar to COH in ways, fans saying hes not that good etc - again hes a very good football player for the role he plays.
