Yes I think it was the league cup and the a few days later I was at Liverpool in the league and Ian Rush fell over a blade of grass and they got another penalty
I was there too! A joyous double visit up to Anfield in a week, but Regis scored the best goal out of the lot.

Obviously would be an incredible boost to the club.

However, I really don't like the pivot away from targeting younger players as a transfer philosophy. Need to stay consistent with the approach.

To me, it is telling and it sounds like King is getting desperate and may go for broke for promotion in the next year or two.
All good young sides need some experience running through them. Grimes as Captain, Bidders as Vice and a one or two more and we’ve got a nice spine

Dawkins on his podcast started to wax lyrical about Grimes as someone we would love to have here- before all today’s rumours started but feels like not just a coincidence as Dawkins doesnt seem to be able to hold a confidence.

It will be interesting to see what sort of fee it's for. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk Grimes value is around €6 million which works out just over £5 million. To give some perspective the same site has Rudoni at the same €6 million with Sheaf and Eccles at €7 million each.

Grimes is rumored to be on around £22k a week at Swansea, our top earners are reportedly Binks on £30k and Wright on £25k. You'd assume it is going to be £25k+.
Eccles 7m, if we can get anywhere near that figure from Stoke etc. We should sell and allow him to continue his progress in a first 11. Genuinely a nice lad but has Allen, Torp, Sheaf, Rudoni and Grimes (potentially) all ahead of him.

Perfect Sheaf replacement, with hopefully an extra couple of million profit. Great move if it happens.

If he can play the majority of games rather than missing a third of them year after year then we're already winning.

My concern about Sheaf. Out of form and very injury prone. Will we offer him a new deal in the summer? Would he sign it?

time to cash in for me. We need a CM who can play more than 50% of games

If Sheaf was winning to sign a contract, it’d be stupid to sell up.

Form is temporary and with more depth in the squad, Sheaf’s minutes can be reduced to mitigate injury.

So we’re skint and Doug refuses to sign anyone he can’t turn a profit on but we’re now bidding for a 29 yo midfielder who wants the move because we’re offering far better wages than he’s on now? 🤔
How are we going to survive all this?

Quality signing at this level IMO. If we have been in talks for a while as suggested, I wonder if we are targeting another midfielder as well this window considering the Schlupp & Rak-Sakyi links

Didn't we once have an all lefty midfield of S Hughes, M Hughes and Doyle plus another?
