Always thought he’s looked a good player at this level. Swansea fans probably can’t see it because he’s been there 10 years and he’d need to be the pivot in a well balanced midfield to get the best out of him.

Would be impressed by this one. Does this mean Sheaf is potentially exiting sooner than the summer and that’s how the cash has become available?
Swansea used to pass the shit out of the opposition. There was that statistic that the next teams game after Swansea often lost as they were so shagged out chasing all the time..

I can’t believe people really think Binks is on 1.5 million quid a year
Or they come from a Champions league side so they're a Champions league player although they never played for them.

I look at it simply. Big club but no experience = League 2. Big clubs with little experience =league 1. Big club with experience but not with the club = Championship. Wages to match circumstances.

Err..do you not think those in the game IE scouts coaches managers media the press etc are not already aware of this sort of stuff before us plebs know?
These days it is more likely. By that definition however, how did we get Hamer who had awesome stats?
We had a player on loan in the old Div 1 whose name escapes me. He completely transformed our team. We tried to buy him, but Wolves gazumpted us. No one wanted him previously.
How do Brighton, Brentford and now Bournemouth seem to buy brilliant players at low cost when the top teams have a much lower hit rate (apart from Liverpool)?

Clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United bring in vast numbers of young players. They send them out on loan hoping one or two make the grade. The rest get the boot. Other clubs are more targeted on quality. But they still get it wrong sometimes like Brighton with Gyokeres.

I think his name was Chris Marsden? Cracking midfielder at the time and we was really playing well until the bloody Dogheads turned his head

Think man! people are accusing Doug of being tight yet he sanctioned 30k week to make a 22 year old center back who was
Season 3 GIF by Parks and Recreation
Binks was supposedly on £30k a week at Bologna. (Believe what you want)
Bologna were prepared to let him go, they wanted him off the pay roll, but wanted a significant fee. Binks however, didn't want to take a pay cut.

We were originally prepared to pay 3 or 4 million as a fee, but the wages would of been around £10k a week, this was the stumbling block.

So to cut a very long story short, Bologna let him go for peanuts (undisclosed fee) and we were then able to match his wages.

The overall cost to us over the length of his contract then became affordable, and Bologne got him off the pay roll.

If Doug keeps him for 3 years (for example) then sells him for £4.5million, the net cost is zero.

That's how football finance works.
So people coming on here stating the wage figures are bollocks, based on absolutely nothing is just rediculous.

I've had it on good authority that he's the highest paid player in the squad.

I'm not sure if the exact figure is £30k, that's what's been reported.
But he is on more than Wright and simms, so the figure isn't wildly out.

He was expected to develop into a top quality centre half, and end up in the Premier league for a significant profit. (The next John Terry apparently 🤣 )
That could still happen of course, but it's not going quite to plan so far.

Was it the same person who told you we were flogging Haji Wright back to Turkey last season?

Binks wasn’t on 30k at Bologna and he’s definitely not on 30k here. TransferMarkt is guessing most players wages

I can’t believe this conversation is happening again, maybe we should discuss Vik’s sell-on percentage instead?
