I'm looking forward particularly when Haji & EMC are fit again with Grimes pinging passes for them to run on to. With Torp & Rudoni in there too the attacking options will be exciting to watch.

If we get grimes over the line gives us real flexibility on whether we go for

6/6/8

or a 6 and Torp and Rudoni in front

good problems to have

Sounds like he’ll be a decent player for us, but I wouldn’t be so quick to break up the midfield at the minute, we’ve just found something that works, allen Still starts even if we do get grimes

Binks was supposedly on £30k a week at Bologna. (Believe what you want)
Bologna were prepared to let him go, they wanted him off the pay roll, but wanted a significant fee. Binks however, didn't want to take a pay cut.

We were originally prepared to pay 3 or 4 million as a fee, but the wages would of been around £10k a week, this was the stumbling block.

So to cut a very long story short, Bologna let him go for peanuts (undisclosed fee) and we were then able to match his wages.

The overall cost to us over the length of his contract then became affordable, and Bologne got him off the pay roll.

If Doug keeps him for 3 years (for example) then sells him for £4.5million, the net cost is zero.

That's how football finance works.
So people coming on here stating the wage figures are bollocks, based on absolutely nothing is just rediculous.
You have had a shocker here mate

Not sure if mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but Grimes has missed 4 games of league football in 6 seasons. Compare that to all of the football Sheaf has missed.

Get this over the line and it’s an excellent signing, feels like an extremely important one not just for this season but beyond.

In that case, I'll drive to Swansea, pick up Grimes, head to Blackburn drop BTA off, and then head back to Coventry. Everyone's a winner.

I’d say you’ve lost out here Stu. That’s a lot of miles to put on your car and if you get a flat or something happens, you’ll be gutted.

Interesting that he’s handed in a transfer request when THREE WEEKS AGO he posted this…

Jheeze you’d be pissed as a fan.
This would make me feel like when Marlon King said he wasn’t leaving and then ditched us

I am outsider on this one. Haven't seen us against Swansea for quite a while for one reason or another.

But it looks like

- Sheaf is on his way out (and may not fit with what Lampard wants - maybe a quicker style of play).
- Grimes is older than Sheaf and apparently a leader. He is (if you guys above are correct) of comparable quality to Sheaf but a different sort of player.

This is all makes sense, but is Grimes going to do all the donkeywork that Allen has been doing very effectively. In a Torp - Rudoni - Grimes midfield who is going to be the grafting defensive midfielder? Grimes sounds from the above to be Mr Flashy Passer.

Wonder if that the future role for Torp - who is one of the niftiest at dispossessing opposition players
