I totally get this transfer from a footballing perspective & feeling hyped about the midfield.

But has Doug had a bump on the head or something?

Wouldn't sanction a rise for Gus or O'Hare - say an extra 15k week=additional £1.5m over 2 years

But willing to commit £3.5m + £3m wages for a player with no resale?

He has realised that his new elite coach needs this to get his deck top 6

Hamer wanted to play in the prem and is probably on 40k per week at SU. Even with only a year left on his deal and a player who wanted to go, we still got upto £15m

King said at the post sacking forum he had no issue with getting the right older player in if they were available

He was never going to stay with us unless we had been promoted.

Agreed, but generally speaking his M.O has been signing players he can make a profit on

The next he's making it rain on a bloke whos 30 this summer. I mean I'll take it but seems a real pivot in strategy

Most successful clubs have a blend of both.

Maybe employing Frank and hearing it from another perspective has helped inform the view.

If it improves the team, enhances getting into the playoffs and ultimately helps make his other investments look good and gain value, then he will get his reward

Gus never wanted to stay and there is no evidence at all that extra money would have made him do so

Youve gotta think there's alot of players, current and old, and new signings viewing this forum, they must think the majority of our fanbase are absolutely mental.
This forum only represents a minority of our supporters. We get 28K for most home games, and have about 50 regular posters on here!

Players know the score. Just look at any live game and see the brain-dead reaction of many supporters in the stands to incidents on the pitch.
Part and parcel of the modern game.

Everything about the negotiations with Gus and other players are complete hearsay which have been passed down to the group at various times by people with their own opinions and will add their own slant to it (i.e GIMOC who likes to create a big spectacle and create mass hysteria every time there is the slightest hint of a negative story).

The only people who really know what is going on is Doug, the recruitment team and the player/players agent. The rest is pure speculation.

Anyone fancy a chat about Komodo dragons or massage chairs while we are at it?

Just pokes you in the back, it’s not a massage at all. And as for the happy ending…

Any player who willingly dives into the shithole that is any fans discussion deserves everything they get. If any of you are reading this: log off and spend your fat wedge on hookers and blow and leave us to it. We’re all idiots.

Everyone does this and forgets the 15 million fee we received for Hamer. That’s a lot of Grimes

So they were bitter pricks 2 years before he handed his request in? I’ll ask them for the lottery numbers might get lucky in a few years time. I’m not saying he is going to be a bad signing I’m not saying they are saying he will be poor for us, Im just saying their opinion in the majority hasn’t changed due to the last 24 hours. That was their opinion of him when he was their player and not handed in their notice.
Mate, we've all seen him play so yes they are being bitter pricks.

You're right but if you read back through their forum, they seem to have just made Grimes the scapegoat for their woes of the last couple of seasons.

Just accept that Hamer and COH just wanted to move on. Both players wouldn’t have been convinced to stay with an extra 10-15k. In the case of COH, I believe we’ve got a better player in Rudoni.

Robins said that Hamer and Vik said on the coach after the playoff final they wanted to leave.

In any case, we got £15m for Hamer so the maths make sense.

I can get on board with the last sentence, I mean that was obvious to all in the summer.
