Arsenal said to be after Watkins, had a £60 million bid turned down, would that take them out of the race for Vik

The appeal of Watkins over Gyokeres for Arsenal is he is proven at Premier League Level. Portugal is a mix of good and well some poor sides. Even in European competition, the standard is varied.

not an original thought, but this sell-on must have a huge impact on our transfer plans in the summer. Feels like Doug is banking big on it, so will be significant for us if he is injured.

Not according to his published words, very little impact on our purchasing power, he made it sound inconsequential last time he spoke.

£5-7M I think was worked out here- not to be sniffed at obviously but not the pot of goal people seem to think. Will be relying on another deck refresh - MVE, Sheaf , Wright ? To bring in the big money.

I’d say that is quite a bit of money? Especially when we are talking defenders

Yeah, once you consider the eventual fee Sporting might receive, calculate the % profit and convert back to GBP - it's a good chunk of change for nowt (e.g not needing to sell one of our own players) but I don't think it's comparable to the sort of money we'll likely be offered for Wright, MVE or Sheaf. Of course, all of these things could happen in which case we'd have a lot of spending to do and a lot of gaps to fill.

I think much like with us, Gyok has been playing injured for a little while and if they're resting him it must be pretty significant. Even if Sporting were previously considering a move for him this window, feels less likely now.

Or they are in advanced talks with someone and they don't want to risk him getting injured.

If Villa lose Watkins and Duran I can see them signing Gyokeres to be honest, they’re in the CL Ro16 already and challenging for top 4. If Utd are contenders no reason Villa cant be as much as I’d hate to see it would feel a bit like seeing Dublin in a Villa shirt (to an extent)

I can see Vik ending up at PSG, but if he went to Villa it wouldn’t hurt as much as Dublin did as it wasn’t direct.

Blimey - bit of a wild assumption

Villa have agreed a fee of £65M to sell Duran, so unlikely they will sell Watkins as well
Villa are negotiating with Manure to bring in Rashford on loan.
