Most of them don’t stay at the club for 4 years.
He did his achilles when he was starting to get games and faced a whole year out. He came back, got a new deal and did okay in cameos. He'll have been cheap, he was clearly popular around the squad and he's probably relished training with wright, gyok, simms and co.

He'll go away now and do okay for burton and he'll get a league 1 team no problem

He's got memories of man utd semi final, last min goal against Preston, bit of pay, 4 years of good training and he's only 24, he's got 6 years + to go play now.

The goal against Preston was amazing. I'd rarely been so annoyed at a game as that one and on our way out, we stopped to watch the last gasp free kick at the top of the exit steps. It was like celebrating a goal in the kop 😍

Also, he did seem really good around the squad, was nearly always in the unseen videos and seemed well liked.

So yer, he was never going to shoot us to the Premier League but best of luck Fabio 👍

I wish him well.

It’s a shame that, mainly because of his injuries, we never got to see the best of him other than in brief flashes.

I’m sure he will carve out a decent career somewhere.

If he does well at Burton, chances are he’ll go there on a free when his contract’s up. Otherwise, he may have to drop lower to secure a contract.

That's all there is to it really. Not that much difference from Rodrigues etc, except Tavares took on this mythical quality for scoring so many goals for the reserves.

They should absolutely put up a statue of him outside the Alan Higgs Centre IMO
Even now the myth and legend is alive and well.

his goals per minute ratio for the first team was worth more time on the pitch.
Anyway let's see how he goes.
PS would of like to see him have the opportunities BTA had v Millwall, Cardiff & Norwich.
We could have up to another 7points
He’s just not good enough at our level, it really is as simple as that and there’s a reason both Lampard and Robins have him way down the pecking order.

He was unreal against Man U. If he was like that week in week out he’d be in the Prem

We all liked him - and wish him well.

He scored 4 goals for us 1 vs Rotherham in a 5-0 win and 3 goals in added time (one bs Preston on debut and 2 vs Maidstone in the Cup).

He scored one goal in 26 games (mostly as sub) for Rochdale.

Suffered badly from injuries - even after coming on in the FA cup semi at Wembley and playing really well, he had to come off again.

Pre and post-injury there’s v little to think that he will have a better career than he’s had here.

Just needs to bulk up a bit but reasonable player, seemed composed when presented with chances but good luck to the lad, still got the last minute goal in the bank
He is 24, that ship has sailed.

I think it's funny when people say he needs to leave asap and he's being silly by staying

Whilst I understand he's not playing alot the other side of the coin is that he's maximising his time as a championship player and he probably knows this is the best team he will ever play for.

I don't blame him for sticking around

Good for the squad, no ego, learning off good players. He's now got a chance under Gary Bowyer who ain't a bad manager and burton who are starting to find form.

I never meant for us I meant for his future
You misunderstand, I don't think he will ever 'bulk up' he is not the kind of build that can add muscle mass.

It's a strange sort of footballer who'd be happy spending most of his time sitting on his arse, regardless of club or salary, assuming of course that he took up football because he enjoys playing.

He's got on in the 71st minute.
It ends 0-0 but Fabio at least had a shot.

79th minute, Attempt saved. Fábio Tavares (Burton Albion) right footed shot from the centre of the box is saved in the centre of the goal. Assisted by Jón Dadi Bödvarsson.
