I did wonder why we stayed with such a high line considering they got in behind us 38 times .. but hopefully it's a case of we live and learn
Yep the high line was the most baffling thing. After the first few times I don’t get why we didn’t drop it 10 yards

Simms assisted their first and Dovin fumbled their 2nd. If Simms header goes in then it might have been a different scenario but in saying that, Leeds deserved winners by a country mile.

We were miles off it tonight, looked scared and couldn’t keep hold of the ball. We move on

2 positives from tonight.
Grimes is going to be very useful and will help us.
FL would of seen some limitations with certain players and that's where he will look to improve the squad in the summer.

Other than that move on. Get things right for QPR.

Rob Gurney still going on about Allen starting and Grimes not coming on sooner like a p*ssed-up fan at the pub. Oggy trying to be professional and talk him down. Embarrassing stuff.
It was weird in the game. Allen and Grimes was a coin flip for me, he’s been in training what, 2 days?

That said Grimes should be starting Tuesday

Mate, watch the game back tomorrow and jot down how many chances Leeds should've taken.

Not half chances, not long range shots, not half decent headers from corners.

They genuinely had 6-9 chances they should've taken.

It's actually mad that you're blind to it!!

It doesn't matter though...it was 2. So on to the next one.

XG is only giving you the number it does based on thousands of shots In similar positions .. not how much we personally think they should have done based on 1 that we've just watched

Yeah they had 6-9 chances. But no one scores every single chance they get. That’s the point lol

If we scored every single chance we had we’d have had 2-3. Would I say we should’ve scored 2 or 3? No.

Lampard thought the same formation and players would bear the same result. But this time it didn't. Lesson learned. Probably should have started Grimes and played a 5-4-1. Something he might want to consider when playing Burnley and Sheff Utd. We should have Wright, EMC and Sheaf back by then as well.

Well no because the chances were completely different to being one on one and just needing to slide it in the corner.

Go and read some of my posts on there then. Critisicng the fact we played a high line isn’t me slagging off the manager. You are so precious about it it makes me think you sleep with a Lampard body pillow
You've managed to turn yourself into the wum of the forum, well done. We've played a high line recently and it's done well for us. Individual mistakes don't counteract how well we've done recently imo. Shit result, we move on. Going to cuddle my Lampard pillow now 😴

Well, that was a bit humbling.
We've been brought down to earth tonight, but maybe it will be a blessing in the long run.
Observing the defeat, you have to face the fact that Leeds are a very good side (they're not 1st by accident), and have a team with many prem quality players.
Leeds also benefit from far higher income, and have the ability to pay far higher wage than us, hence the discrepancies.
We were not good first half, but although Dovin will come in for some stick regarding the second goal, i have some sympathy with him....at least 3 players should have tackled Bogle before it got anywhere near the penalty area, and even then, why didn't Lati just lump the ball out of the area ?
Apart from that incident, Dovin was solid, as per usual.
2nd half was much better from us, although worryingly Leeds still had alot of chances because our back line was so high up the pitch.
As CVD said above, take this on the chin, and move on.

I would start both. We need to control the ball in games like tonight and while others are more creative, solidity and not lettjng them doninate the ball was/should have been the option.

You obviously have some problem with me as many others have made the exact same comment about the high line yet you don’t say nowt to them. Odd.

We lost to Leeds I ain't arsed, said it the other day, if we got smashed to bits I ain't arsed as it's Leeds. We will lose to Ipswich also.

We have to be honest Leeds, Shef U, Burnley, Sunderland and even West Brom are much better than us.

Defensively we are dog shit, I will never stop saying this, we must play a 5 in order to really hold our own.

Other than that tho, Wright, Mason Clarke, Rudoni, Sakamoto, Grimes, Sheaf, Dovin, Simms. We have a load of top talent in our squad, we must reman realistic.

They were clear cut one on ones a lot of them - they could easily have scored 6 or 7

Yeah we really held our own with a 5 tonight

Against teams like Leeds do we need to braver if we are playing 3 at the back? The wingbacks picked up their wingers leaving no one to track their full backs who could wander forward at will. Do the wide cbs need to take more responsibility for the wingers and allow the wingbacks to pick up the fullbacks?

On the games I have seen only Leeds looked a class above and let’s be honest we basically put their goals in for them. Everyone else is fair game but these players have to believe they can do it.

Tonight the belief was never there.
