What a fucking insult that was to 25k City fans!!!!!! Either Frank's tactics are shit, or these players just ain't good enough to carry out his ideas, or BOTH.
We played a weakened time against a pl squad mate

I genuinely don’t get the shape.

If you are playing RM/LM (Saka and Rudoni today), what is your role? You’ve got a WB behind you and a CM the other side. If you get the ball you’ve got one player ahead of you.

When those players are a WB who won’t overlap and can’t play, and two CM’s not known for their creativity, when you get the ball what’s the plan?

It’s a poor formation made poorer by the personnel

From our own halfway line we are playing with 2 centre halves on the HW line with another acting as a holding midfielder and the 2 fullbacks sat inverted almost

Way too high to play against teams like this and we get left short on the counter alot

Wouldn’t be half as bad if we were tidy in possession but how many times did we lose the ball in stupid areas.

Another poor performance. I can stomach being outclassed, but the lack of effort is infuriating. I’ll take it on the chin, the players & Frank have credit in the bank after our recent form but Tuesday night is now massive if we don’t want this season to fizzle out

He’s just not awful though is he.
Exactly, we need better but he’s not awful, lampards managed and played at the top level, I think he knows where he’ll need to strengthen in the summer, playing that high line you can still play Thomas or kitching but you need a bit of pace next to them , MVE can cover from the right and pretty sure will get similar on the left, thats 2 signings and a quality back 4 sorted 😉

Only fair to say this considering how negative I was at times with Mark.

If we are not expected or able to keep the ball, drop the defensive line or drop the press block. High line was madness today especially without Milan’s pace to bail us out.

Tough today really, it was always going to have to be a decision between concentrating on the league and going for another cup run. I think it was clear to most when the team came out, what our intentions are. If we'd had a fully fit squad things would obviously be different.
Not a lot could be done really. I think today highlights why we were so keen to bring a RB / RWB in on a permanent, Lati is not a viable option for that role.
I'm pleased we can concentrate on the league now, as we have turned a corner and have key players coming back. Allen must be shattered, i wonder if Grimes will start Tuesday night with the quick turn around.

What’s your point?

Unless we get promoted we’re never going to be in a position to expect a result against the likes of Leeds and Ipswich, the difference in resources is massive.

Just some stupid posts in here today

We got results against these sides last season. You can fucking try! People aren’t pissed off we didn’t win they’re pissed off at the manner of the defeat.

Six goals conceded this week, and all of them terrible. I would say it was league one defending, but I saw the Orient game earlier and their defence was much better than that.

The reason Bobby Thomas spent half the game stepping into midfield is because our shape was wrong again. The back 5 has been the wrong choice two games in a row now, what exactly is an extra defender adding? It certainly isn’t defensive solidity.

Agree with this. What’s more frustrating is you need the right players at WB if you’re playing a five and Lati unfortunately is not that. If we had to go with a five Burroughs should’ve come on at half time at the very least or maybe even eccles there. we should’ve just gone with a 4 though,,especially today without MVE playing, stick Binks at LB if necessary

There’s that and there’s basically scoring all the opposition’s goals for them. A certain minimum standard has to be there and this week it just hasn’t.

Having said all that MvE and Simms rested, Grimes to come back in and hopefully Wright, EMC and sheaf back soon. Just need to grind some wins out until everyone’s back and hang in there

We have tried, just been undone by individual errors.

We lost home and away to Ipswich last season…

It’s not the results ffs, it’s the way in which we gifted both teams chances and goals. It could have been 5 against Leeds and the goals we gifted today were absolutely shocking. If we hadn’t have made stupid mistakes we might have picked up 2 results. Stop making out it’s because both Leeds and Ipswich are as good as Barcelona
