Too many reactionary posts right now, get a pint enjoy your fucking weekend and get ready to smash QPR on Tuesday night. We lost to 2 top top teams, Leeds being a PL team in waiting and although it may not be apparent to anyone Leeds have smashed more than half the league statswise than they did to us. Ipswich were also in a freak championship season where their points tally would be enough to be automatically promoted by end of April, and the team Ipswich put out today had mostly players that got them promoted plus Jack Clarke, Jayden Philogene and Alex Palmer of which last season were 3 of the best in their positions in the league also Kalvin Phillips Southgates irreplaceable man in CDM (I think he’s shite but he’s been a PL player since Leeds last went up for a reason).

We are 4 points off the playoffs and it seems the atmosphere is slowly coming back first half today the CBS kicked into gear a bit, and alongside that we dont have to play Leeds again this year everyone else is beatable (besides Preston duh)

Don't mind losing the 2 games it's how we lost. Leeds and Ipswich didn't really earn their wins they were given to them on a plate. All mistakes for the goals.
It's exactly that. It's the manner we lost in. That has to dent confidence.

Instead of having the confidence of an ongoing, unbeaten run, it's now all about the question of can we bounce back against QPR.

No problem with losing those two games, but today, we handed the victory to Ipswich on a plate.

There is very often some kind of “mistake” in the build up to a goal. Whether that is giving the ball away, poor marking, defensive line wrong, goalkeeper badly positioned (there is a long long list, I won’t go on).

I agree with the notion that we make a lot of mistakes though (often too close to our goal!) and when we play teams that are better than us ability wise, we need to be more street smart and be trying to play less football; when we try to go toe to toe with these teams at the moment we get battered.

Understand the sentiment and broadly agree, but I don't buy this idea Leeds was a foregone conclusion and an impossible task. Very good side, but they had only won 5 of 14 away games before they played us. Far too much respect given to them on and off the pitch. We were poor on Wednesday.

In my opinion we don’t have the personnel to set up in a way to stifle teams of greater ability.

I agree about the Leeds statement, we were poor and didnt show up and definitely should have been better. However that game is done, we should have been better we werent but we weren’t the first to lose to them and certainly wont be the last they’ll walk the league, only team with something about them this season

Our Midfield is structured in a way to take the game to the opposition and today and Wednesday night we didnt do that so to me thats where both games were lost giving too much respect to the opposition especially in midfield

All 4 goals were defensive mistakes, the midfield aren’t to blame for shit passes or gifts on a plate

I don't understand Binks passed every single time to a pink shirt! I think it's something to do with being colour blind myself personally.

They are to be blamed for lack of support in possession and out of possession to the defence, sit off the opposition too much, give them too much respect. Games like today and Weds are won in the midfield battle

Yet he had a pass accuracy of 86%

Grimes is our secret weapon!!!

I honestly think having him in the middle of the park will give everyone a massive lift, and raise confidence levels which otherwise would of taken a knock.
Him and Sheaf in the middle, Haji and EMC to come back, it looks strong going into the last few months as long as the defence gets sorted out

Yeah no need to shit ourselves. We’ve looked shite in the 2 games but that’s just largely down to how good the other sides have been. We’d won 4 in a row beforehand. I’d rather our shit performances have come in these games than in the real winnable ones. Grimes, Sheaf, EMC, Wright, Bidwell, Simms to come into that team

Most goals in football are from mistakes.

Twitter / X is far worse than anything on here. You’ve got the usual Robins rimmers all piping up about Lampard, and it’s hilarious viewing.

My favourite comments were ‘the only reason Lampard might do better than Robins is because he will be given a full and fair crack at it’ and also that today was ‘the most tactically inept we’ve ever been’.

We fielded a weakened side to what’s been working over recent weeks and our still without 4 of our best players. We will make the top half and maybe even sneak in the playoffs, something that I don’t think would have happened had we have had a cup run this year.

I saw something in the ground today that I’ve never seen in all my years of watching the city (38 years). I saw a man wearing a woolly hat with a big ol’ Aston Villa badge on the front of it.
What the fuck is that about?!

It's not time to over react but it was very disappointing. Feels like both matches were approached completely wrong, we should have been compact and tried to frustrate at the beginning and earn the right to play and at least get to half time still in the match.

Instead we were massively open from minute 1 and both games were over by halftime.

We still have enough quality to beat QPR but the manner of defeats could have an impact, you can't just turn it off and on like a tap, it's dangerous to think we just won't turn up against Leeds and Ipswich and write these matches off as losses before the ball is kicked and then we will go back to winning ways immediately after.
