Will having Haji Wright back throw us off? (14 Viewers)

He’s a winger, we want him taking players on and chipping in with goal contributions. There’s better players than him available to us and whilst there is still a role for him, I expect it’ll be as a role player.

Agreed. If someone shows they're more effective than he is in that position, they'll get that spot. Until then, he's valuable enough.

He keeps possession as well if not better than anyone else that plays across the front three. He helps us get up the pitch and stay there. Ideally you'd have someone in that position that offers a bit more but I don't think we're carrying him. He does a lot of good.

Gets the best out of Milan too.

How exactly? He’s scored 2 goals and only 1 assist. Oxford he got a goal and assists and his goal v Norwich Sakamoto wasn’t on the pitch.

If anything, Rudoni links up with him the best down the right flank.

This idea Sakamoto gets the best out of MVE is a mantra we keep repeating without being grounded in fact. EMC (9) has the same goal contributions individually than Saka and MVE (9) combined in less games. Haji has 8 on his own in half than Sakamoto games.

EMC is one of our best players in terms of goal contributions along with Wright. But both are LW. Saka and MvE work well together, you can see it with your eyes. Not everything that counts can be counted. Wright or EMc may be able to adjust to RW but if not Saka is our best option and I don’t get the recent need to denigrate him. He’s been fine.

I wouldn’t say many are denigrating Sakamoto. Speaking for myself here, it’s pushing back on a mantra that this combination of players is amazing. Frankly, it’s not. Sakamoto, in my estimation will be a great role player for us but he’s not the main guy.

Wright had played as many games at RW as he did at LW before he joined us. His primary position is striker and the way our team builds up play, you see the striker and wingers often crowd the CBs almost like a tradition 4-3-3 with 3 strikers. Sakamoto himself has had 3-4 good opportunities to score headers at the back post and in my view, having Haji there would yield more goals.

In the language of Football Manager, Haji’s role on the right will look something like a raumdeuter in the manner of Muller. There’s potential there.
