Oggy could have done better, the free kick looked in slow motion.

Technique and everything has changed with things like that, no knuckle balls going on there.

Don't know what shirt we wore there, it wasn't the 2 tone yellow we wore at Sheff Wed in the ¼ final and no Granada Bingo on the front

Was this when we were in a bit of a relegation battle?

I remember being there when we lost 1 nil. Wondered if it was the same one.

Surely an early season game and therefore the team that won the cup in 1987? Finished 10th with Villa and Leicester relegated.

I didn't watch it.

Just remember going and we lost 1 nil. Maybe it was a couple of years before this one.

We lost 1-0 to then just as Sillett and Curtis took over end of the 85/86 season, then played them a couple of months later right at the start of the 86/87 season and lost 1-0 again

Yeah, this was near the end of the season for sure. I know we were in relegation trouble.

I remember the disappointment of this defeat, reading the score at a newspaper stand on holiday. Never actually seen any of the action until now!

Strange seeing those cup-winning players, all unaware of what was to come 🏆 🙂

I noticed the ferry didn't even bother measuring 10 yards for the free kick our players just picked a spot and lined up the wall, probably further away from the ball than they needed to be.

This was the opening game of the 86/87 season. Little did we know what was to come at the end of the season, although this was quickly followed us beating Arsenal at HR in our 1st home game.
Yes I was there. A certain Keith Houchen made his debut that day and looked every bit a lower league journeyman. Thank goodness for the FA Cup.

The away section looked pretty full on the video - a large proportion of those in it were West Ham. Very little segregation in London back then so never the most enjoyable experience.

Yep I went…. Do recall West Ham in our end. …the toilets seemed to be shared with West Ham and I spent half an hour giving verbal banter to a Hammers fan through the fence only to find him come through the toilet and appear in the away end behind me.

The first City match I ever cared about. I remember filling in the match details in the Match magazine free-gift team notebook. Sitting in my Grandad's caravan with him checking I was writing the names properly.

The first match I went to was the 1-0 win over Wimbledon in October, Bennett going through to score the winner.

FA Cup winners at the end of the season - turned out I was just another glory-hunter.

I remember going to West Ham in the mid 1990s and they were redeveloping both ends of Upton Park and we were put in the top tier on the side and the segregation was an empty seat between us and the West Ham fans. There was plenty of good natured banter between us & them and we won 1-0 thanks to a David Busst header. The tube trip afterwards was interesting with some of their not so friendly fans seeking revenge.

I loved Upton Park, absolutely quality - The walk from the tube, the pubs and Nathan's Pie and Mash shop

Saw us there on New Years Day (If memory serves me right) the season we got relegated from the Championship under Andy Thorn and was also taken by a West Ham supporting mate of my dad's to watch them play Spurs once and the atmosphere was electric and was completely intimidating

Such a shame they swapped it for the soulless, dull , athletics stadium they play in now - I bet proper 'Ammers despise the place, but that is where football has gone unfortunately
