How did Burnley get where they are? Feel like Bournemouth or Blackburn in the Prem, just too high for the size of their club.

Getting promoted at the right time, just as the money was getting crazy.. we did the exact opposite, were there for 35 years or whatever and relegated at really bad point. Also credit to Dyche for keeping there a long time by adopting a certain style that made sure they kept the points ticking over at home especially.
I feel like there's been a lot of clubs finally settling in their natural positions, Reading, Wigan, Huddersfield etc... But Bournemouth and Brentford still stick out like a sore thumb.

Not sure what the right strategy even is against them to be honest. We could I suppose go full stodge for the 0-0

Yeah it's a tough one. Not personally seen much of Burnley this season, but we saw against Sheffield United they were happy for us to have the ball, and then hit us on the counter every time.

I also don't think we're a team who should really sit back either

I suspect Evo is right in suggesting we go a bit more direct. I’d also start Rudoni and really play for set pieces, we’re among the league’s best for headed goals and it’s our best chance of getting through that defence.

Yeah, their record is very impressive but I do think we'll get at least one goal

Interesting match up this one. Burnley just don't give goals away but we have Wright back and a menace they have not faced before and we have goals in us at home. What Burnley do not have are goals up front where they struggle much more. with Rudoni back we will be stronger. Not sure if I would go with Wright on the left and Simms down the middle? Torp and Rudoni are more than capable of threading balls through for Simms to keep their defence occupied and Wright will roam freely. Give Sako the remit to attack the fullback.
yeah Burnley will lose one soon enough and I think it's this one.

took the missus to that game to try and sell football to her, and try and understand that feeling when we score

of course it was a 0-0 to milwall and atmosphere was toxic and she just asked me things like “what’s a nonce?” throughout

First game i took my now soon to be ex-wife was when we beat Man City 4-3 at HR. She loved it! Saw a cup game where we scored 7 or 8, think Ritchie Partridge played. Also away games at Valley Parade and Millmoor, although she'd lost interest by then. In football and me.

That was early into our first season down at this level wasn't it? I was there too, hell of a game. Think we sold Carsley just after it.

Just hope when we are defending corners we leave 2 up. Means they need to keep 3 or 4 back. Gives us more space in the box and an outlet when we clear it.
It’s something we used to do but seemed to now just pull everyone back.

Yes, it would have been 2001/02.

Until last season’s escapades in the Cup that was the best City game I’ve ever seen. Still remember the winning goal vividly but not who scored it! Lee Mills?

I can't remember, to be honest. Brilliant game.

In fairness, I’m sure my partner would ditch me if i treated her to a romantic getaway to Bradford and Rotherham… 😂

Was this in the same month?

Don’t need to over react after Sheff Utd game and change the whole team/system.

Collins
MVE Thomas Kitching Dasilva
Grimes
Torp Rudoni
Sakamoto Wright EMC

Be a tough game, take a point.

Can we beat Burnley on Saturday? Course we can. Anyone can beat anyone in this league, on the day.

We are just going to have to put in a fabulous performance and players like Wright, MVE, Grimes, Saka and Kitching, are going to have to be right on their game.

Wright can do a lot of damage. Burnley have a fantastic defence, but Wolves were a Premier League team when we played them in the cup last season and Wright was a menace.

We just need to be right on our game. A draw would be excellent, mind, but I actually think we can win this game.

FL might have to pull a few rabbits out of a hat, but if we can get our gameplay right.... who knows. Let's see how we approach the match.

I am confident we will be able to get a draw at least.

Don't think they are any smaller/nor bigger than us

Or Blackburn for that matter, Blackburn are a medium sized club who just happened to win the lottery with a very wealthy local benefactor in the 80s/90s

First home game of the season I am missing, Prague for my pals stag do so Sky/iFollow will have to do

We need a statement performance like we did against Sunderland against one of the top sides, would do us the world of good for any potential play off campaign

Fingers crossed, PUSB

Amongst the best in the league? We're the best in Europe statistically aren't we? Agree, Rudoni feels key for this one.

Depends how you deem a club to be big or small. Current standings are purely money-based and Bournemouth have had a wealthy backer for the last decade.

Prior to that they have spent almost their entire existence in tier 3 and 4 playing in front of crowds between 4-6K.

They're 'natural' position based on history would be about midway up league 1 (at a push). Ours is top half Championship.

Yeah, I hate Bournemouth btw.
