All top top class. Michael Laudrup probably world class. Dunno what people class as world class these days tbf.
World class does get banded around way too much these days

10 years ago 'World Class' was reserved especially for Messi and Ronaldo and that is it

I like Newcastle and think they have a cracking side but I side but I saw someone claim Bruno is 'world class' the other day - He is great but he isn't 'world class'

Yeh i agree, its something i'd reserve for only a handful but seems to get spread around like manure on a farmers field these days.

Just think the overall quality of football is pish compared to what it was 10-15yrs ago

Most telling is the fact Mbappe is supposedly the best player on the planet, cause let me tell you one thing he wouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo in their prime

Mbappe comes off as mostly PR.

Individual talent has been eradicated from the game. Look what happened to Grealish. How often we shoot from distance or take a man on. Ballon d’Or will probably be for pass completion in ten years.

I think Pep definitely brought in a more stale way of playing. TBH watching us tap it around the box in a U is painful.
Pep-ball was absolutely everywhere 10-15 years ago, we’re literally talking about the era when Spain and Barcelona were winning everything

And I thought that was dull too. Fine if you like it I just find modern football a bit boring mostly.

People are always saying this, think it’s just nostalgia tbh
To me the quality of centre forwards is way way down on what it used to be and no one can tell me otherwise. Players that couldn't even get in the likes of Brazils squads regularly would be among the best around right now. Actually English forwards too tbf, we used to have a good roster, or if you will, deck.

Possibly but I just feel like elite level football has less prestige these days - The El Classico was plastered everywhere in that era and was something you would go out your way to watch back then, I had no clue they were playing in the Copa Del Rey final the other day

Then again you could flip the coin and say that Liverpool and City a few years ago gave us some of the best title races we are ever likely to see

Maybe it is just down to what you prefer

I still ain't having that Mbappe is on the same level as prime Messi and Ronaldo though

The original poster said modern football is pish compared to 10-15 years ago - it’s not, the technical standards are higher and the game is more popular.

Finding modern football boring is horses for courses I guess, but I think for the most part it’s just a product of growing up.
