Sakamoto as tidy on the ball he may be just doesn't have the pace or power to be constantly effective, too often his final ball isn't good enough either.

He’s technically v good too, some precise crosses, shots and so on. It’s fair to say that it’s not delivered on a consistent basis and given we’ve targeted wingers in Jan, it’s likely we’ll strengthen that area even if we extend Paterson’s deal.

Statistically, I remember seeing one of those graphs and it showed that he doesn’t really excel in any one particular area. He’s not particularly creative, doesn’t take on defenders that often nor a consistent goal threat. A Jack of all trades and that lends itself perfectly for a role player but less for a key player.

Indeed, if we do not get promoted we already have a top 6 team, it's there to build on rather than a risky strategy of demolish and rebuild. I can't see more than 3 out and I hope we will get 5 in one of which is maybe a loan (one of those pacy direct wingers you were talking about).
Agreed. Just going by things i've heard, i think we'll see the following leave:

Lati - Not a fan of sitting on the bench and is vocal in that (not in a disruptive way), wants minutes.
BTA - Same as above, had the Blackburn approach in January. Eustace likes him and so does MR.
Bidwell / JDS - One or the other, think the news of the LB has spread now so seems as though that could be locked in.
Collins - Obvious reasons.
Sheaf - I've not heard anything but sounds like Saddle has.
Then obviously all those out of contract, think Allen and Paterson from first team squad?

With Eccles, i only heard that he is certain a bid will come for him. He never said that he's not in the plans or that we'd accept, so don't know on that one.
Norman isn't happy with not playing either and is vocal in that. Not been told anything though as to plans to loan him, just that he is frustrated.

Then it's just a case of will or will not any bids come in for Wright / MVE or anyone else.
Also i guess which league we will be will be a massive factor.

Definitely want to see some direct wingers. Only thing aside from the errors at the back that has really bothered me this year is that constant checking back, just find yourself saying out loud, take them on, get a cross in, but they don't they always come back, sometimes all the way back which is so frustrating.
I know we have Torp that is quite capable of taking on a shot from outside the box, but when you look at other teams, players like Sainz, Benson from Burnley, i'd like to see us go after a winger that has that in their locker and isn't afraid to try it regularly.

Who is the incoming left back rumoured to be ?

Not a totally happy camp then and you think the squad churn will be quite considerable. I think I may have made a bit of an underestimate there. 🤭

Of course if a player isn't a nailed on choice then either they accept being a squad player in a top 6 side, a regular starter in a struggling club or improve their performances so they are hard to drop.

The players unhappy with their playing time haven’t shown why they deserve more.

I doubt there's a team in the league who don't have players who are unhappy about not playing.

And Jimmy has stated that certain players, aren't being disruptive about it

That’s the game isn’t it. You don’t want anyone in the squad that is happy not to play. And you have to keep them happy if they aren’t. None of Lati, Bassette have made a compelling case at all so they should suck it up and Lampard should continue to omit them for better options

Yeah exactly, i suppose you can't hold it against a player who wants to play football, plenty are happy to sit picking up wages, admirable that they are vocal about it. At least they are not disruptive with it, the last thing you need is bad eggs in the dressing room.

I suppose it will all depend on if anyone comes in for them, if we / their agents put the word about etc. I think it helps that there has been previous interest in a few of them. No idea about Sheaf though. I know we had concrete interest over the past 2 summers, a bid from Southampton turned down last summer. Not heard a peep since.

Kitching forced his way into regular starts by upping his game and putting in consistent performances. That’s the example to follow for anyone on the periphery looking in.

I believe Bassette has been told he needs to train better and with the right attitude / application when he is not getting minutes.

He did, was really professional about it, i think Lampard even came out and said that if i remember correctly.

I like him, but his last cameo was appalling.
Do you think maybe it's because when he gets an opportunity, that he is maybe too keen to try and impress and doesn't follow instruction. I get that feeling. He's young and raw, hopefully he will learn, maybe he would benefit from a loan?

Not sure.
I like him but I think he's regressed.
I think a loan would be a good move but would he?

He 100% needs a loan to learn how to play if that makes sense - there are the raw ingredients, but hes so green in what he does. Lg1 loan really would help him and us ultimately.

Im intrigued what will happen with binks also.

If Sheaf does go, we really do need an athletic, dynamic presence in there....think sheaf and club is naturally coming to end, maybe best for both to part.

GK obviously going to be big subject now in close season.......

Yeah, definitely makes sense. He's not gotten international call ups for no reason. There is obviously something there, but he needs that experience in a league like this.

Binks, no idea what will happen there, i've asked the question as intrigued myself, to no avail though. He's a high earner too, not quite as much as people think but higher than players who people seem to think are top earners, if that makes sense.

Think you're right with Sheaf, also can see Grimes becoming club captain.

So green! NB has actaully regressed in every appearance from start of season also. You can tell there is an attitude challenge, guess that will be the factor on how much of the potential he does unlock.

Makes sense re Binks. if I'm him, you can see your not first choice and hes also at key stage of career where I think if he does play a couple of seasons, there is a player there, just dont think its going to be with us.

The Robins piece will be fascinating over summer, nailed on he signs at least 1!

I thought that the concensus was that it was Jamal Lewis from Newcastle?

Callum Doyle ?
No idea, he'll usually tell me when talks are advanced. To buy him outright would cost a fare bit though, do you think? Surely Man City have decided by now whether they think he will make it. Wages could be an issue as we have a structure.

Also, even if Lampard and co have looked at it and thought he's not going to make the cut or whatever, it's not as easy as just saying let's offload them, when they haven't had many minutes in the shop window, contract lengths and wages etc to factor in.

Have a friendly wager with a friend that Robins will come for at least 1 😅. We shall see.
