If you actually care to read what others post instead of being "Wrapped up" in your own posts, you will see, others as well as myself have said LC isn't as good as McD to play up front alone. Imo is nowhere near as good.
I've suggested pushing McSheff/Elliot alongside him, rather than behind to give more options, rather than burning himself out chasing everything for ninety minutes plus.

But that would mean changing the way we play, 4-4-2 is fundamentally different to 4-5-1 and would involve changing the way we play, I'd rather have an extra midfielder, we have a wealth of talent in midfield, than Elliott.

For me, it's 1 upfront, if Clarke doesn't suit it, play Elliott or buy/loan a new striker who suits the formation, but I don't think MR would've signed Clarke if he didn't think he could suit the formation, these things take time. I'm pretty sure MR knows best.

That's your opinion, I'm not going to change that. But I'll ask questions of you nonetheless, after all, this is the point of a forum, is it not?

You say we don't have good RBs, fair enough, but I'll give you an example of a game where we conceded 2 goals, none were directly the RB's fault. MKD, Adams got ripped the whole 1st half, and he was accountable for the 1st goal, 2nd goal, Edj got turned inside out and Adams failed to make a block etc. etc. it is clear to me out problems don't just lie with RB. PNE, Holmes' goal came from the left, through the middle of the CBs, nothing to do with the RB here, again, another example of not just RB mistakes.

Believe me, I gave Clarke his fair share of stick in the past, I won't ever forget v Leicester under AB, but oh well, it's happened. I don't let off anyone if they make a mistake, anyone, regardless of age, place of birth etc. I give McSheff a lot of stick.

Interesting you say Clarke isn't tall or strong enough to be a defender, I guess this is another fundamental problem with English football, obsession with pace and size, if you look at the best RB (and arguably LB) in the world (forget the world XI, Dani Alves got dropped at one point this season), Phillip Lahm, 5"7 and looks a twig, fantastic defender and attacker, is he too small?

... Look, Clarke & Christie have made mistakes, but so have all of our other defenders, so yes, it goes further than RB.

Answer this, if we have 2 RBs of equal quality, but 1 LB, would you sign a new RB or LB, realistically, we will only be able to get a young RB on loan, so what would be the point of getting a new RB.

Our best bet would be to get a CB, who can play RB and hopefully LB (like Brown, just, not as shit) that is the most realistic option. But getting a specialised RB wouldn't be worthwhile IMO, especially as we have 1 LB.

P.s. I'd call it assertive, not aggressive.

im a huge fan of world football ,and ive noticed one thing from watching so much football for so many years, and that is

lahm and alba are better than clarke and christie

you really overate the qualities of our two RB's,you seriosuly think have the technique, pace and decision making of 2 of the best fullbacks in the world????????????

you cant jsut say,hes small so he has other attributes, if lahm couldnt head,or if he tried 360 roulettes in his own box he would not be playing for bayern frickin munich

we are in league 1 and we need players who can do their job properly

I weren't comparing them, you said Clarke is too small and weak to be a defender, yet Alba and Lahm, as you mention are the best in the business and are both 5"7, going against what you said. I weren't saying we have 2 Lahms on the books, I just said, well Lahm is small, and supposedly weak, yet he's the best.

why would anyone think replacing centrebacks is more of a priority than replacing RB?

oh wait its only you saying that

I never said it was more of a priority, I said it is more fundamental than RB as you state, our whole defence lets us down, and if we signed a CB I'd be happy, but it'd be good if we was versatile, for competition or to start, either way, I don't care.

i know mate but what im saying is lahm is good, if clarke had other attributes to help him be a defender i would agree with you,but he doesnt seem to have anything that makes him stand out

good technique? sure but he still has so many mispalced passes, i just see no reason to keep him in the team other than christie being in a bad patch too

Usually look at your comments and think that makes sense.. But this I can't understand and SkyBlue_Taylor does bring up a point. As you have rightly said for this league we have two very good RB who are young, have experience on there side, have played at a high level and have the potential to get better. 1 CB and 1 LB IMO are what we need to strengthen at the back, not a RB.. Clarke and Christie will get better but only if we stick with them, Adams' loan finishes Wednesday and if he doesn't sign for the rest of the season at least, then with no Hussey, we will be stranded.. Edje and Wood work well of each other, but the worry is if one get's injured then only Cameron can step into the breach and unfortunately that's not quite positive, Willis on loan which will be good for him and I think he will come back a decent player at some point hope to get him in the fold more reguarly..

There you go again!
Try reading what Mark Robins, David McGoldrick, and Leon Clarke have ALL said......McD....The boss wants me to play ALONGSIDE Leon Clarke. MR said..Would be the best Strike Force and would frighten all clubs in this league....LC...I can't wait to play with McGoldrick, he will bring out the best in me.....Nuff said!!!

this isnt a either/or situation...we can get LB and RB if required

or use clarke as a back up LB worse comes to worse

as long as our starting 11 has 2 proper fullbacks we give ourselves a chance of promotion

Personally i think it is harsh to write of Clarke as not good enough for this league, i think he has alot to offer. He worked his b'locks off on Thursday night but was isolated most of the game. I think the left back position needs to be addressed as priority, we dont have one that we own now we got rid of Hussey. I think the style of full back will very much depend on the formation you play, 4-5-1 formation can allow your full backs/wing backs to bomb on where are a 4-4-2 is a little more static and they dont venture as reguarly. Personally 4-5-1 works better at the moment if we have sheffers/Baker pressing as a support, then need to run at defenses which isnt consistent at present and certainly doesnt happen all game.

But you have just said bring in someone else to replace Clarke at RB, now you want to move him over to LB?

No it's not a either/situation, but it's a possibility, if Adams doesn't sign (Which I hope he does) we draft in two players on quick loan's, is that going to be better than what we already have? We have shipped Reckford and Brown back to their respective clubs because they weren't good enough to help us push on.

are you unable to read?????????????????????????????????

i said use clarke as a LB backup if worst comes to worse, as long as we have 2 good fullbacks starting the games that might be the best we can hope for.

rather than 2 good LBs and 2 average RBs id rather have 2 good full backs and 2 avg backups

Yeah I can read thanks, but are you grasping that come what may it might be the reality if Adams doesn't sign..

Back to my original point a LB is what we need, be it Adams and a back-up in this position but that is what we need, Clarke and Christie are very talented and we need to stick with them..

my point has never been about LB,ive said we need a new rb to have a better team, simple as that

thats point i expect ppl to agree with, not talka bout recession, sisu, adams leaving etc

do you agree a loane RB could improve the team? yes or no?

To be fair, a loan could improve the team in any position if the player is better than we have.
So a bit of a silly question.

not at all you wum

most people agree right back is our weak point at the moment,so lets rectify that

theres only so many loans we can have and we are not made of money

i udnerstand peoples points about adams and getting a backup, but what im trying to glean from people is wether they would like a replacement for clark/christie if it was possible

Yep it's just where needs it the most. I think rb and striker

I agee RB and striker are where it is needed most.

As for being called a WUM above, not at all.

The person you were asking obviously doesn't think we need improvement at RB, which is his perogative.
You asking 'would a loan at right back improve us' is a cheap way to get him to say yes.
I don't think we need to replace our keeper, but if Casillas becomes available, 'a loan would improve us' in goal too.

Thinking someone needs replacing and 'would a loan improve us' are two different things entirely.

Think the last 5 games (not including spurs and I haven't been away) the problems have been missing chances across the side and defensively at rb. Don't know how hard loans are to come by but if its hard then if good young players become available in these positions snap their hands off!! Christie is a good lad, Clarke has talent but at rb he needs to understand when to lump the ball away! We should have beaten shrews and Carlisle not on past history but on good chances made but football isn't like that is it?

no i was getting him to focus on my original point thats all

rb is a weak position, msot people are finnaly coming around to that,so im hoping for a rb loan

but some people disagree that its more of a priority than 2 lbs, which is fine but not what i was asking.

my stance is sign adams and a rb loanee to start

and use clarke/christie as backups(yes clarke out of position at LB)

thats just my view,a few injuries and i could be proven wrong sure, but id rather that than be starting clarke/christie rest of season

with all due respect to christie/clarke i dont think robins will find it too hard to get someone better

christie might be worth putting in for tranmere though, hes looked alot better than clarke this year

I'm still right, but he took the 'no' route which I wasn't anticipating. :D
Of course a loan would improve us (assuming they are better than we have!)

Expect the unexpected son ;)

That's one of the points I have been trying to make, how can we tell if we get in a RB, it won't be like another Reckford or Brown scenario?

Is that the same thought that went into signing Reckford (Unquestionably the worst LB in history)

If that's so why was Adams drafted in so quickly to replace him if "he wasn't that bad at all"?

Maybe I am still feeling a buzz after Thursday, which reminds me cc4l, isn't that the sort of moment you wish you had witnessed live instead of on the box?

Didn't he fall out with Robins? I remember him getting a right bollocking, coming off and never seen again?
