Murphy 8 some great saves. Kept us in it
Christie 5 looked very dodgy. Maybe we should put J. Clarke back in the team
Edje 6 again look quite dodgy. worst i've seen im this year
Wood 8 Edje gets a lot of credit but no-one ever talks about Woody. Top player today. Deserves more recognition
Adams 8 great attacking play. Linke dup well with McSheffery
McSheffery 6 had the potential for a better game. Had some good attacking play at times but was a little inconsistent with his passing and ball retention
Baker 7 good performance in the second half
Fleck 5 quite disapointing again. I think its time to drop him
Jennings 7 no idea why he was taken off. Didnt look injured and was playing really well again. If he stayed on he would have been man of the match. Bossed the midfield. Definatly the new form-man
Bailey 8 good consistent game. Won the game with a great finish and was decent overall
Clarke 6 didnt see promise again. He needs to score or he'll lose the crowd. His 2 goals were shots he couldnt miss so he needs to win me over. Elliott made a bigger impact in 35 mins

We should have finished that game a lot sooner and that ref didnt help, waving off clear fouls and cards, but we cant use that as an excuse. We should have taken our chances and there were a lot of them. Next time hopefully not such a dramatic win, my herat wont take much more after Preston and now this

It's a rough estimate, I may be 1-2 passes out, but the only player not to concede the ball cheaply was Bailey, and maybe Jennings. Rest lost it pretty cheaply.
I'm not sure if you were one of those people, but when people said they wanted a 'creative' midfielder, did they expect he wouldn't ever give the ball away? Fleck is creative and goes for a killer pass, in fairness to he and others, he didn't have much to aim for...

Murphy 7. Good shot stopping- but sometimes Joe you just need to clear your lines?
Christie 7. Defended stoutly- but I think Bakers quieter than usual game didn't enable him to get forward as much as he'd like.
Wood 7. Solid albeit second half he struggled- looked more comfortable with Jennings on front- struggled when SJ went off
Edge 7. Smith gave him a torrid time- looked shaky at times- again benefits from Jennings in frotn I think
Adams 7. Best of the defenders for me, Didnt do to much wrong. Committed and looked to bomb forward when he could
Bailey 8. MOM- composed and calm- gave the ball away cheaply a few times second half. But drove on and deserved his goal... what a finish.
Jennings 7. Tired second half but solid. Like a kingpin in front of the 2 centre halves- they missed him when he went off.
Baker 6. Tried hard as ever but it just didnt seem to go his way today. Lacked his usual flair
Sheff 7. Macca tried hard, great ball for the 1st goal. Not his best performance in Sky Blue. But he's had worse days
Fleck 6. Doesnt seem to be able to find his "slot" in sky blue. For me the weak link today.
Clarke 6. Was up against a man mountain- no change and only won a couple of headers all game. Not his best- but I really think he would benefit from a strike partner.
Elliott 8- Very Intelligent player. Found space and finds players in space. Worth a run in the team I really believe.
Moussa 7- I would have started with Moose in lieu of Fleck- I thought his driving runs gave us a different dimension from the rather static nature of some of our midfield play
Thomas- Not really fair to give CT a mark on the basis of his 5 minute cameo role.

Thought he was largely involved in the play whilst he was on the pitch, always looking for the ball and didn't go missing as he has before. Only denied a goal by a great save, at least he made the keeper work. I Thought he hit more than two good passes, agree about trying the hollywood pass to often there were times when he could have kept it simple
Anyway I was talking about Sheff, the best thing he done today was the cross for the goal. Pretty much over hit just about every other pass and cross and when he did get a shooting opportunity near the end of the first half it ended up in the empty seats. Most of our threat down the left today came from Blair who was outstanding
I just try to call every game as unbiased as possible and try not to let my personal opinion on players effect my judgement as some others do
Sheff for the past 10 games has been one of the top performers, was particularly good first half at Tranmere and Fleck has been very inconsistent since he has came back into the side virtually anonymous vs Preston in the JPT, today I felt Fleck played better than his previous games and Sheff played worse than his previous games

Unsure about Elliott, on one hand, he scored a goal, and could've had a second, but their keeper made a fantastic save, but on the other, he was the main culprit for giving the ball away so cheaply. I thought Fleck started brightly, our early pace setter, but when he and Sheff swapped, he wasn't involved as much.
I'm glad we ground out another result, and result were in our favour, shame we didn't keep a clean sheet.

But he wasn't creative, he was poor. He isn't suited to that role, especially behind a lone striker.
Most of his attempted 'killer balls' were 40 yards away. He never once got the ball turned and ran at/committing Oldham players to try and slip it through.

According to Robins in his post match interview he has Elliot in mind for a starting position. Maybe PNE? although I think he'll be outmuscled by that dirty lot.

Christie, wood and edjinguile - all 6. Oldham for a poor side had far too many opportunities and Christie in particular looked panicky as the game went on.
Adams - 9 Has to be man of match
Bailey - 7 he had a poor first half and distribution was not that good
Jennings - 7 did well I thought and surprised he was took off
Fleck - 4 made 4 good passes and other than that just garbage. Cannot run at all. Reminds me of a player who is 39 who used to be a quality player but has lost his fitness. Can't passenger him any longer.

Christie was worse, there's one, Baker did worse, that's 2, Wood, did nothing wrong, but quiet, there's 3, Clarke was our worst player, there's 4, bar, Bailey, Edj, Adams, Murphy, no one was really better than him, Jennings edges him, Sheff and Fleck both had good moments, and bad.

What I don't get is, when people say Baker, Fleck etc were anonymous so they give then 4s. Baker did all the things need right. He ran with the ball, he made some slick passes, plus a few decent corners.
Fleck did some nice passes in the first half too.
Some think if a player isn't beating 4 men and scoring, that they have had a bad game.

This made me laugh. Adams 9? He played well, but not that well! Clarke 6? He did n.o.t.h.i.n.g! You said McSheff wasn't great, but you gave him a 7!? Christie 6!? Didn't take on a man, nor successfully cross the ball, and looked suspect when defending. You did have your blinkers on today.
I swear one of the main criticisms of Pirlo was that he moved like a 40 year old, he ran the show v England who are "machines" according to Hummels. Your attitude to Fleck epitomises of English fans' backward views on football. For people like you, footballers need to have the pace of a 100m sprinter, the fitness of a marathon runner, the strength of a 200+kg weightlifter, the jumping ability of a pole vaulter, excuse the exaggerations, but I'm sure you get my point.
Gretzky, the great Ice Hockey player, was weak, not very fast, but he was technically very good, and was 1 step ahead in his thought processing, that's why he was great. That's what team sports, football included, is about!
Note: I'm painting a general picture here, NOT comparing to Fleck. Global, not local thinking in this sense.

It is only if they don't like the player, if two players put in an average performance of similar quality. If they like one player he will get a 6/7 an get comments like 'did ok' 'not his day' or 'lively' 'dangerous'
If they don't like the player they will get a 4/5 with comments like 'useless' 'shite'
Defensively poor today. Edge was the worst of a bad lot, consistently turned and won about 3 headers all day. Christie is always out of position which exposes them even more. Elliott Moussa and Thomas made a difference. Fleck didnt however. I was really excited by him signing but he is fast turning into the next big waste of talent. He is lazy offers little and just doesnt seem to fit into an otherwise hard working side. Bailey Adams and Murphy deserve a lot of credit after today.
