It has been confirmed by the club we aren't signing him!

There's been a lot of official denials but for Earnshaw to watch our last 2 games purely by chance when he isn't a local seems unlikely. If you're looking for a club in the Championship, would you go and watch a League 1 game on a cold January evening/afternoon ? And would the club say they are trying to sign him and alert Championship clubs ? This is a new Coventry under Robins, where signings are now kept quiet until the ink is dry. Still agree his wages may be a stumbling block if its true though.

That's what I was just thinking when I read your post. They've been very hush hush over signings since Robin's took over.

Could be Earnshaw is actually coming, they've just chosen to deny it so as to avoid other clubs coming in and scuppering the deal at the last minute.

It would make a lot of sense then and explain why he's been to two of our games recently. Cardiff to Coventry is a good 2/3 hour journey by train and about the same in a car (traffic permitting).

I think the same can be said for our new trailists. We won't find out who they are until they've either played for us in a reserves game, signed for us or been told they're not good enough.

We'll just have to wait and see wont we!

Agree completely with this. I listened to Waggot 'ruling it out' earlier on the Friday phone in. It wasn't quite as conclusive as someone made out on here. He said Earnshaw was a player he liked but said we were not interested... 'at the moment' or something to that effect. Given the fact he has just been on loan as well I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him join on loan with Cardiff paying some of his wages.

Has he been at the Ricoh or is that rumours?

He has been to our last two games from what I've read and heard off here! Several fan's reported seeing him and I think the paper might have mentioned it as well...I could be wrong!

And the club made an official statement saying they weren't signing him. It was hinted they had tried but due to issues (aka wages) they couldn't offer him a contract.

As I said above, this could be smoke and mirrors to deflect attention while they hammer out an actual deal.

Maybe he has some friends at Coventry? Players do On my way! And watch friend play sometimes?

ParsonsHose, not seen him myself, just going on fantalk from here, Twitter, GMK and CWR. And yes, people can make mistakes. I'm often mistaken for a guy I sometimes sit next to. We're both of a similar build but I've got a beard and he wears glasses

skybluegod, not saying its impossible. But unusual though. My Conspiracy Theory head says "Why now ? Why 2 consecutive games ?" Again, I have been wrong before.......regularly :D

Like all our recent signings, lets wait and see. If he comes, he'd be a useful signing with a similar style to McGoldrick. If he doesn't, we haven't lost anything.

Just to add, Frazier Campbell has today completed a transfer to Cardiff from Sunderland. Looks to be another sign that Earnie's time at Cardiff has ended.

How do you know we have trialists?

I'm hoping with Cody going it might give MR the chance to bring in some better competition up front...

Where did you hear this rumour? Sounds unlikely as he might cost a bit of money. Useful player at this level though!

With lack of names, we should maybe concentrate on positions! I would like to see another striker, couple of wide men and maybe a centre half?

Cody was given a place on the bench but went to sit down and missed...

We need at least another striker, I still fancy Elliott to eventually break his way into the starting eleven either as a lone striker or Clarke's strike partner. We'll need at least one if not two strikers in reserve if we're going to mount a serious promotion challenge.

Wood's played LB before so can cover Adams if needed but I think we're still short of CB cover and I'd love a nippy winger, but they cost money!

Before the Oldham game cwr asked the club about Earnie

The club said he was at the game vs Tranmere but we are not signing him

Well they are hardly likely to come out and say 'yes of course we want to sign him... just so all you other clubs realise this and can outbid us'!
