Again this weekend they are without a match which means they'll have 4 games in hand after Saturday's game at Preston. Makes it that little bit more important to at least not lose it.

I can't quite decide whether I'd rather be in our position or theirs, the balls firmly in their court and its up to us to keep the pressure on and hopefully catch the teams higher up. They're gonna have weekend/midweek matches for pretty much the rest of the season.

Points on the board are more important than games in hand. We've just got to keep performing as we are, and hopefully those games won't matter too much. I'd be focussing on Bournemouth and Sheffield United more at the moment as they only have 1 game in hand on us.

MK Dons are in a much more preferable situation to ours. But CCFC need not worry - if they give it their best in training, give it their best on the pitch, and implement Robins's (presumably sound) tactics, then good things will fall their way by the end of the season. That is the kind of self-assured club culture that puts pressure on other, weaker teams to start thinking in terms of the significance of small patches of games.

Looking at the fixtures list the games in hand MK have are Yeovil, Doncaster twice and Crewe. toughies and teams around us. We can only look after ourselves and win as many as possible.

They are definately in the better position for now. doesnt mean it will end that way, and it is going to be difficult for them when the pile up of fixtures needs playing. Im based for work in MK - know some of fans and I hear alot about the squad, once you get past the first 15, definately has some weaknesses to it. so if they get any injuries, etc....could spell trouble. But I could see us both making the play offs anyway.

I totally agree on the point about how important it is not to lose on Sunday. Drawing wouldnt be too bad but to lose another game in hand without making any points up would be very damaging.

I remember in the championship where there was a season where Cardiff had like 4/5 games in hand on the top two but ended up finishing way off automatics in the top six. Not to say its gonna happen to MK regarding play offs but maybe it is a difficult situation to be in at the tail end of the season?

I disagree about them being in a better position. Much better to have the points on the board I feel.

MK will have a serious backlog of fixtures if they are 4 games behind. Half the time there are 2 games a week anyway in League One, so they may well end up having to play 3 games a week on a couple of occasions at some point.

Its not to say I wouldnt agree with this in theory, but.........dont MK Dons have 3 games in hand, plus already currently being ahead of us in the League Table (albeit currently only on goal difference). surely as we stand at the moment they are in a better position? If we win on Saturday and go three points above them, then theres an arguement to say we are better off, but as it stands now, they must be - unless we are saying they would lose all three games.

Points on the board and keep on winning...thats all that matters. Wouldn't like to be in MK's position with that kind of backlog...no thanks!

At the minute they are in the better position, we just need to keep picking up points and it will balance our eventually. Lets see how we fare in the next 2 away games.

I think there is a bit of wishful thinking going on here.Yes they and other teams have extra league games in hand, but aern't people forgetting we have 2,and hopefully 3 extra cup games to fit in as well,so they probably wont be playing anymore games than we will.If we were to lose Saturday, then if MK have 4 games in hand,it would be a huge ask to claw back that advantage.

Always... points on the board is preferable to me.

MK's games in hand are all difficult (if it's Donny x2, Yeovil + Crewe) so it isn't as black and white as some could assume, they could draw all 4 for instance...

They are in a bittersweet situation, but I'd rather be MK ATM. They aren't in that good form ATM! Neither are Stevenage or Notts County, I'd say our position is ok, we just need to pick up maximum points as many times as possible.

basically - in terms of if everything were even in terms of form, squad abilitiy, etc.....MK Dons would be in the better position.

I feel pretty confident we can negate any advantage they and other teams have with extra games though. We just keep getting results like we have and we will make the playoffs.

Agreed, by the time they play their games in hand, it might not even matter to us, we just got to keep chugging along and start demolishing teams again.

I'd say we have one of, if not the best team in the division, we may have to strengthen in certain areas though, so we can handle ourselves.

I think they will suffer in the weeks to come with so many games per week to play. Hopefully tiredness will effect them.

Some top managers moan about playing lots of games without much of a rest......and that is with massive squads to MK franchise. A player out for 3 weeks could miss 6 or 7 games, and with their small squad they would struggle.

I would rather be in MK Dons position however I don't think it is a good thing for them to have a back log of fixtures

I am hoping a few teams form may suffer late in the season with fixture pile up where fatigue is more of a factor.
