Someone posted on that rumour site in responce to this takeover rumour.

"Why would we want some Saudi Arabian people owning us"

Why indeed? Well here's some good reasons (assuming its true, which i sadly doubt it is):

* They are reported to be worth something like $4 billion (which in pounds is £2,545,824,000).
* This would mean they have a fair amount of money to back them up in whatever they decide to do with our club and the surrounding area.
* Not only would they be able to buy the whole stadium meaning no more rent problems and a lot less media attention!
* They could give Robins a good amount of money to buy high profile player targets etc. Money and wages wouldn't be an issue anymore.
* We could (in a way) expect promotion back to the premiership within 2 seasons if the money was used responsibly (which assuming robins was kept in charge, I know it would!) to bring in the right players for the job!
* The deal would stipulate that they develop the land around the ricoh. This would mean the area as a whole would benefit as more businesses would be created, more housing, therefore more money as a whole coming to the city!

With all these in mind, that's exactly why we'd want some Saudi Arabian company buying us. This is of course as long as they don't feth around like SISU did. I for one think they wouldn't because they don't hide who they are (unlike SISU who hide behind their 10%). We'd know who owned us and hopefully they'd be fully open with what they planned for our club! I just think some fans believe they can say who does and doesn't own our club. In the end its the money that says who does and doesn't own our club just like money is the reason we can only get certain players and lose other players like McGoldrick and also why we don't own our stadium at the moment!

Just also realise that if this were to happen a possible scenario would be: In the premiership minimum price of tickets £50...lots of our core supporters might have an affordability issue!

But you have to admit a lot of our problems have been caused due to a lack of available funds?

For instance we don't own our own stadium and we can't buy or keep good players because we don't have the funds to compete with other clubs e.g. transfer money & wage demands.

I would invest in City every time, especially if I had the resources that the Saudis have. I personally would keep Robins, Waggott and Fisher if possible at least until we are secure in the championship.

With football you can't predict how any money spent will deliver.

Can spend millions and millions on players and managers, but if not the right ones then can still end up nowhere.

Can spend very little on players and managers but if the right ones can have great success.

Can often be just luck and all the stars aligning in the right way, but money alone won't do it, though obviously will help.

You make a company a global name by putting money into them.

Liverpool is only a global name because someone sore fit to put money into them when they were a smaller club.

If they had your attitude that because Coventry City isn't such a big global name right now and therefore not a good thing to put money into, then City would never grow to the heights that liverpool have.

I disagree with you there, my friend. Coventry City has had one of the best ever runs in the top flight of English Football. As the Premier League began to grow, so did Coventry City, peaking (in my lifetime) at the era we had Hadji, Chippo, McAllister, Keane et al.

Now, for recent times, the aquisitions of Hadji and Chippo were important ones. Hadji had just had a blinding World Cup and was a national hero. As with Magnus Hedman who was famously branded "Swedens Answer To Beckham"... he was idolised. In Morrocco, we sold more shirts during that time than we sold Fez's here... the same with Sweden. People don't forget that. Coventry City was the team their national hero played for in The Premier League. I know that at that time, the Premier League was being broardcast all over the world and we were shown an unbelievable amount of times. So, when you're picking your new Premier League team, not knowing much about the Premier League, you go for the most exciting. The brand of football we were playing then was just that. "Look at the way they play, didn't he play in the World Cup?"

I've spoken to foriegners who have gone through that same process and whilst some have since moved on to Man U, Arsenal and even Spurs, others have stuck with the Sky Blues, like that guy in China (?).

It's probably even easier to support us if you don't have to watch.

But yes, I do think we have a global presence, not as strong as the big 6, but it is definately there. It is also something we have over a lot of other teams.
