Sky Blue Trust Open Meeting In Casino Before Tonights Game (5 Viewers)

Trust meeting in Lady G's at the Casino at the Ricoh, 6pm-7pm, tonight prior to ko v Crewe - open to ALL, so please come along and see what Trust is about.

Meeting will discuss the proposed new Mission Statement and Aims for the Trust - input from all is welcome and encouraged.

The meeting will be led by Roger Ellis who has been co-opted onto the Trust Board to provide additional expertise, he is a qualified solicitor with extensive experience of negotiating with football clubs and large corporations.

Obtain an ownership stake in CCFC, giving supporters a direct say in the running of the Club and having at least one democratically elected Trust member on the CCFC Board.

• Advocate financial stability for CCFC, with a business model based on avoiding unsustainable debt, and profits being reinvested directly in the Club. We do not want the Club being used for outside purposes by any owner who does not have the best interests of CCFC and its supporters as their main aim.
• Have City fans respected as the lifeblood of the Club, at the heart of everything CCFC does. Supporters are not merely customers, to be seen just as a source of income. Players, managers, directors and owners come and go but supporters have a lifelong commitment to the Club and are the custodians of its traditions and heritage.
• Benefit present and future members of the community by promoting and furthering the game of football as a recreational and sporting activity, encouraging and assisting the Club to undertake activities and to deliver and support services for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire.

Toachieve these aims the Trust will:

• Work in partnership with the Club and all other stakeholders in CCFC.
• Represent and give voice to the views of Trust members.

Surely these are the same aims as SISU have hence they have a crap load of money invested? I'm sorry but I really don't see the point. It may as well just be an unofficial city fan club.

Our "job" is to try and make sure that whoever the clubs owners are that they have those same aims and encourage them to keep to those aims. Without a voice there is always the danger that the needs and desires of fans will be overlooked and ignored and we aim to ensure that doesn't happen. We want the fans to be at the centre of any decision making and not simply the interests of owners and investors/shareholders - often the two may well be the same but there will be times when they won't and that is when its important to have a strong fans organisation.

In many ways you have just answered your own question by bringing up the Portsmouth scenario - too many clubs have been ruined by poor owners who let self interest, ego or whatever influence their decision making and not the good of the club or its fans. Our club has been mismanaged for decades, not just by current owners but by several previous regimes where their self interest lead to financial disaster time after time and one of the aims of the Trust is to ensure that owners stop gambling with the very viability of the clubs long term future for short term gain. All clubs, our included, have to become more self sufficient and not rely on sugar daddys ploughing money in whilst it is fashionable or this weeks hobby and then running out of interest or money and leaving the club high and dry. The Financial Fair play etc is a start but it makes logical sense for clubs to only spend what they bring in.

And in the twelve months (?) that the trust has been going has it contributed to any of the things that you mention? It's all a bit corporate for me. The stuff spouted by anyone within the trust seems too much like that from SISU when things were really bad. It just seems that the trust don't do anything but have lots of fancy words when you ask what they do.

My view is that I would like success on the pitch. I couldn't give a monkeys about anything else. Whilst we are having success on the pitch there is nothing that I need to do/suggest.
