If you went to Withdean (270 times), you'll know what this new stadium would mean.

Our story from the 1990s is well documented, and we're finally - FINALLY - closing the chapter on it; 18 years after the EGM which decided to pull the rug out from BHA's feet and sell the Goldstone Ground with no plans to play anywhere else.

The timing of our (sorry to gloat) BRILLIANT season could not be have been better scripted. There is a real buzz and massive sense of optimism down here. I don't know about what anyone on here feels about it (or even if you care - no reason why you should), but after a decade of nonsense, we feel we are due some sunshine.

To be fair TLO, at the top of this thread people were happy for you, no one likes to see fellow supporters going through it. Our tosspot of a board may well pull the rug from under us yet who knows. Enjoy your days in the sun, and we look forward to seeing you next season.(watch out for rob, he wants to wear leather chaps and pink!! haha) :D

Welcome TLO :)

It was my suggestion so I guess I should respond. Sorry to imply all were bothered about the 'gay' tag, but I know that some (I have a mate who goes regularly) get fed up with the constant jibes and also that some away fans from one team were prosecuted for shouting homophobic comments at your fans and some complained, so like all good researchers I made 2+2=5 :) I think all I remember us singing to you previously was "down with your pier, you're going down with your pier" (sorry :) )

Anyhow, new ground sounds excellent and reminds me of what 1860 and Bayern do for their home games with the lighting, so if you want to see what it looks like take a look at their sites. It's all done with lighting as they share the ground and in the teams colours is blue when 1860 are at home and red when it's Bayern.

I wrote on here last week about one of your games actually. I watched Brighton away at Hartlepool (long story but our cup tie at Newcastle was postponed and we were already there). The only thing I remember about the game apart from the 2-2 scoreline, was an absolute belter of a goal from Codner.

Anyhow, enjoy your promotion and see you next season :)

Cheers. Bob Codner - that's going back a bit.

Our ground's not going to be quite as advanced as the Munich stadium!

The gay jibes thing is water off a duck's back, really. The thing that makes Brighton fans' eyes roll is the lack of originality. 'We can see you holding hands...' 'Does your boyfriend know you're here...' etc. The reply is usually 'you're too ugly to be gay...'

Oh, for an original homophobic chant...

Rob we will leave it to you to write some song's. :)

Are you familiar with the Steve Miller Band's joker? :)

(sorry Brighton fans if you're still here - at least it's original :) )

Cause' you’re a hatter
You’re a bummer
You’re a felcher
And you’re a rimmer
Cause’ you like it up the bum
Are you the taker
Or the giver
You love the brown river
Do you like it up the bum?
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

I remember going to the Goldstone Ground in the Prem days ~ cages on top of the walls to keep the fans in, which should tell you the era. Terrible view, the people standing in their gardens opposite could see better, terrible game, with nothing from either side, horrible weather, it was cold and raining, and a 0 - 0 result. And it was the dearest game I'd been to all season.
