I think the old badge is fine if it is only for one season.

But what kind of material are they going to use to make the shirt I wonder. If it is the normal polyester crap then it isn't going to look very retro is it? I hope it is like those retro shirts you can get online with the high quality cotton.

For once I'm actually proud of something the club has produced creatively. This is a brilliant new crest, I really love it. I'm just sad it's only going to be used for a single season — I'd be happy to see this used as the shirt crest indefinitely.

I agree with rob9872. This was an opportunity to engage the fans missed. What I take from it is - "we will please ourselves like it or lump it"

How long did we have the previous one for? Why change it ?

In the photo it is quite strong but put it with the other ones say like on the Sky football league show studio wall and it will disappear in the background. For me the current one stood out because of the colours. It is very 60's in feel but our history is more than that.

Plus wonder what it cost when we were so short of money..... hardly a priority

The new badge will be a lot cheaper to produce, its the only reason we are doing it IMO

As one who actually went to see and complain to the red nosed buffoon when he tried to foist his abortion of a badge on us I must say I actually like this one, as long as its just for the one season, only on the retro style kit and we keep as the official club crest as the current one. McGinnity's attempt was firstly based on getting rid of all the different colours so it would be cheaper to produce and secondly he could register the design and thus get royalties from it, the current crest I believe is not registered. I love the idea of a George Curtis style all sky blue retro kit with this simplified badge on it - shame it will be sullied by a sponsors name but guess you can't have everything in these modern times. Wonder if the club has thought of charging a couple of quid extra if you have the shirt without the sponsors logo?

Agree with most of the comments here - I do like this badge, it's good to link-in with the current trend for retro shirts. I think this will look good, especially if the kit is completely Sky Blue.

I wouldn't want to maintain the badge long-term however - I don't think you can beat our current crest - best in the league I reckon!

Plus it will make my tattoo defunct, so SISU / poundstretcher / Joe's Cafe or whoever is going to own us long term...make sure you think of that before you agree to keep the new badge permanently!

Don't mind the new badge to be honest. Love the curent badge but if its gona be for one season then i dont see the problem. Could it be that the club are trying something positive eh, how dare they!

Yeah this is nice :)... I kind of feel like we'v only just modernised our kit and this is obviouslt going a little away from what we'r used to. But all in all its nice, not much more... i'd buy it anyway !

The one thing that troubles me and always has is that the elephant should have it's trunk pointed up for good luck.... otherwise for a season yeah i suppose. But I'm a lover for tradition in such matters.

According to the marketing guy from CCFC on CWR this morning the design is lifted directly from a match day programme that went out around 1960's and has strong connections with Jimmy Hill. The badge was never on any kit etc. It therefore links in with the new retro look kit that has been specially produced by Puma. As it is lifted off stuff already owned by CCFC there is little design time or cost involved. I guess with the JH statue going up it ties in with honouring the man. It is only for one year, the current badge is to be retained.

Wouldnt it have been nice for the club to explain that though....... or was it done this way to stir fans interest in the club ?

Something that's an obvious nod to our heritage to coincide with the Jimmy Hill statue, and people still manage to hijack it for whining about SISU and conspiracy theory?

I agree with ajsccfc seem's like anything the club try's to do is seen as some sort of conspiracy theory and all the doom & gloom merchant's come out to play.

This would have all been boxed off long ago & was probably signed off by Ray Ranson anyway.
who cares looks like a potential great kit & I will be getting one for the lad. just as long as it hasn`t got that poxy neck like this years (He has to wear a tee shirt under it)

Looks like it was on this replica from the 1940's:

Whether that was actually on the match kit is another matter, any photos?

Understand your point but all those comments could have been largely negated by a proper statement on it from the club explaining what I heard this morning but as they released the picture. Yes there would have still been sceptics but many would have welcomed the nod to the good times at CCFC and the man who changed this club in a truly positive way. CCFC know that communication is everything yet they still miss such obvious things. Was an opportunity to reach out to the fans

I agree with you to a degree, but I see nothing in the unveiling that suggests they're side-swiping us or trying to cheapen the badge or whatever else has been suggested by some.

To be honest not bothered about badge either way. if the team are winning they can wear any shade of sky blue with any badge with elephant (except the McGinty one lol)

I like the retro badge but still not as good as the current badge which I have been brought up with so will accept to lose it for one season but for no more lol, Also i remember an article saying our badge is one of the most expensive to produce because of all the colors so those extra pennys been saved should be put in the transfer kitty for Thorn in the summer :)

Well our badge did change about 3 years ago, but only slightly (removed the green underneath, simplified the 2 birds and made part of the elephant gold but I like it so meh. As for the new 1.... I like it (still prefer our current one tho!)

with an elephant standing on a ball with a castle on it's back.

so why has this new one have a Candelabra on the elephant????:thinking about:

They haven't invented it from scratch, it's apparently as it was on programmes and the likes in the 60s.
