He won't go.
Do we have to have this every time a manager in the championship gets sacked?

has he said much about it himself so far? its unbelievable how it works these days - cant even get and keep a manager through a season.

id be dissappointed and worried if he goes - but if he does, to those people who say it would be the last straw, come on....really??!! can we help being City fans? surely we are use to dissappointment by now? we could drop to the conference and I would still be a city fan - not through choice, just cos how can you just stop supporting them?

I think we'd all still be City fans but whether we join the apathetic non spending brigade of City fan is another thing. I enjoy our games under MR, I WILL not go back to watching utter shite under some other coont like Hoothroyd or Coleman !!

I concur with this - dont get me wrong, Id be pretty damn angry about it, I just didnt like the 'final straw' sentiment from some.

we will still be city fans - just a bit angrier city fans, which is what it looks like you are saying.

I'd be gutted Matt, this is the best season we've had in 15 years, the football has been enjoyable and the fans have rallied both home and away. Next season will also be something to look forward to under MR.............without him and with some plodder like Megson doesn't bare thinking about !!

yeah Id be gutted too - I think if we keep him for next season, and back him in terms of keeping the squad, we are potentially in for a great season next year (if we dont make the play offs next season).

This squad as it is with him in charge - starting on a level playing field - i cant see how we possibly couldnt finish outside of the top six. even if he doesnt go to huddersfield though - and he does stay and keeps doing well - how many more approaches are we going to get for him??

Once a shit stirrer, always a shit stirrer !!

You don't think that Robins will be displeased at not being given the chance to talk to Huddersfield?

You don't need to stir shit, when shit is about to happen.

Or shall we stick heads in the sand and pretend all is well. Again.

I think it is positive that we have rejected the approach as clearly we weant to keep him. Eventually this will be out of SISU's hands, if he decides to leave. No offer of improved contracts etc will help in this situation, if he wants to manage a championship level he needs to leave us. Lets hope he has a vision for us to move back in that division and make a go for the premiership but we need time.

Well what do any of us know really. We know he spoke with our board and owner last Wednesday re plans for rest of season, next season etc ,may have even been pre Crewe match .He's signed one prospect since then and hinted that he is in the market for one maybe two more quality loans ,that was prior to dropping more ground on the playoff spots. We can say with confidence that Sisu seem to have given him everything promised to him ,apart possibly from DMC who i'm sure he will have advised to lose him was to risk making the Play-offs this season.

If he stays here we'll go up next season anyway................maybe even this year if we can start putting chances away again.

Well, we've had Fatman and Robins, so I guess next up will be The Joker.

Was going to say Two-Face but Ken Dulieu came and went didn't he!

Only if the commmittment stays the same ,If budgets are cut, being in this division again means they have to be ,meaning squad reduction ,maybe a good thing ,Elliott ,Wood ,Sheff ,all out of contract.Scope for more input to squad of his own choices.

I dont even wanna think about Mark Robins leaving, but realistically, we know eventually he will go to a bigger club. If not now, in the future. We gotta accept he wont be here forever. Just hope e stays til we're in a solid position in The Championship so we can attract a good new manager, on par or nearabouts as good as MR. Personally, i would like to see Alan Curbishley but i think he's done with management, so Adkins would be my pick, but as already mentioned, why would he come to a club in L1 with no money? Knoowing SISU, they'll find the cheapest guy to do the job

Just like Mark Robins was the cheapest man for the job!

There are many good managers out there. I'm sure Huddersfield have seen what MR has done in a short period of time and also know he is a cheaper option than say someone like Curbishly. However Huddersfield could be coming down back to league 1 and they would already have then have a manager with knowledge of that division if they got him.

Frankly though MR would be insane to jump ship from a club where he has built a solid and likeable reputation, backed by his current board, making things happen at a big club and potentially will take this club into the Championship anyway, with the prospect to push on for a realistic go at the Premier league that a big club always commands.

Stay and be a hero or leave for mediocre?

It's nice to be wanted and if anything gives you more strength to come at the board. With this strengthend hand he needs to keep us on course. I believe he is a good fit at this club and he likes it here. An improved contract wouldn't go amiss for the man. When he sees 32k at the Ricoh for a silly cup competition he knows more than anyone their will not be many clubs with that 'sleeping' potential waiting to be ignited. Certainly not Huddersfield. Coventry are on the cusp of something good and he will be part of that in a big way.

hopfuly with what you said, when the initial dust settles this would be the most realistic thing to happen, plus from the boards point of view if MR keeps to his loyalty, they send a hands off approach to the rest of the league's with a improved contact offer

Not saying I can't see it happen (sort of going along the lines of paxman here), but Robins isn't a stupid man. He can see the Huddersfield job will be difficult. What he had with us was time, it was early on in the season. There is no time there. He'll be weighing it up. If he thinks he can keep them up, considering teams below them are turning round their form, then he will probably go. But I'm sure he wants to finish what he's started here.

There are many good managers out there? Is that why it took over 15 years of trying for us to get one in Mark Robins?

There are a lot of managers out there who have been good in the past but now their star is on the wane, or managers who have had as many failings as they have successes.

It took so long to get the right man in Robins. I can't see that we are just going to be able to pick up another manager who can make the same difference just at the drop of the hat.

he won't go,after seeing 30,000 turn up last week, your lucky if huddersfield can attract 25,000 in the top flight

Your right huddlesfield will never attract 25,000 in the premier league.....their ground only holds 24,500.

Not sure we should be using a cup semi final with a ticket price of £5 as a benchmark for how 'great' our support is..:..

I think MR is fab, bit is he great? If we win the jpt and make the play offs, then yes he deserves all the accolades but we aren't there......yet. It's all speed of light stuff this! It's so funny how over a week ago we beat Sheffield away and things were really positive, MR has the club in his veins blah....now everyone's panicking because of twitter and the fall of league 1 results tonight could be bad (or good for us!)

Personally I'll go for Gary Johnson for the next 3-4 month shift. He has Cov tapped, knows how to beat us whether its with Bristol or Yeovil.
