Awful, how many times can he pass it to them?

Another goal just before half time!

Cant believe we let them in before half time again! They have had nothing!

To start with yeah!

He started off sloppy, kept passing to their wingers and then in the second half he started putting some great tackles in and going forward.

It might be tradition now for me to slate him at the start of every game as it makes him come good :)

KUTGW Nick! I turned to my mate at the end and said "Clarke was MOM-yet I bet there are still people slagging him off online tonight"! I genuinely assumed your OP was sarcastic until I read on...

Tbf, he gave the ball away twice, in the first few minutes. He didn't put another foot wrong all game; made around 6-7 superb tackles, gave a pacey attacking overlapping outlet down the right, passed superbly, linked well with his teamates. Looks a future star to me.

They were all after my post ;) Like I said he played well after :)

Well done Nick, I think you may have some magic affect on Clarke. He improved throughout the game just think he was finding it hard to shake of his previous injury

I think Clarke had one of his best games in a City shirt today. Mainly on the basis of his tacking- he made a couple of great ones! Looked composed at the back for the most part too, and didn't do a bad job of moving the ball around upfield either. It's easy to forget how young he is and how he's just been thrust into the setup as a result of injuries. I think he's doing a pretty good job for us!

i thought he was fantastic today won pretty much all tackles and going forward he wasn't to bad, in all fairness he does have his moments where he does some awful passes, but lets not forget hes only young in a few years time i can see him being a good player same as hussey who looks very good going forward the past few games

It could so easily had been different today. could not understand why AT would play Clarke at right back and Keogh in the middle who has been instrumental in assist and crosses for our good performances as attacking wing back lately. Wood was available.
So even AT can make the obvious mistakes. i would also have liked to have seen Deegan in that 'hole' as Macca was injured.

But we got the win so best not criticise and the players all want him to get the job.

I suspect with both Deegan and Wood neither are quite ready for a full 90 mins yet. I'd guess we'll see Wood back in the middle on Friday with Keogh on the right.

Listening to AT on CWR after the game Cameron not fit and wood on the come back hence the back four of Clarke, Keogh, Cranie & Hussie. i though Clarke was excellent defensively but wish at time he had more confidence (ala Hussey, Van Arnholt) going forward cos he has the ability.

Like I said I posted this at the start of the game after he had given the ball away twice and kicked the ball out of play. It was fairly tongue in cheek as I did it last week and he started playing well.

I posted it today and afterwards he probably had his best game in a City shirt :)

are you being serious? Clarke was brilliant today, why do people always seem to moan at him even though he was definately our best defender today

Still don't think he was awful, even then-2 bad touches. King managed twice as many and I don't see anyone jumping on him.

RE:Wood. I think we're twice as good at the back without him! He came on and looked the weak link, as he has all season. We've started calling him "Anywhere", because that's where he hoofs it whenever he gets a touch. In marked contrast to the entire starting back 4, and Keogh & Cranie in particular. Cranie has composure (sometimes too much!) and touch, whilst Keogh carried the ball out from the back at CB as effectively as he does at RB. There aint many CB's in the country who sprint at defenders like he did today! Millwall didn't know what to make of it. Wood would have just hoofed it. Keogh also made numerous superb headers and tackles:he actually played his entire career at CB until last season, and that includes his Eire U-21 caps. If it gets Clarke in the team and keeps Wood out, it's fine by me.

That back 4 is actually probably the best in the club in terms of playing passing, skillfull football. I think Thorn knows exactly what he's doing!

Thorn obviously wants all of his back 4 to be ball playing defenders including the middle two and I agree with what Nonleague was saying in this sense - I disagree about Wood however. I think he is capable of playing football from centre back, he will not make attacking runs forward etc as Keogh perhaps might but he is good enough on the ball to fit into a passing side.

The bigger issue is if Thorn does want a ball playing back four, McPake will be near the bottom in his list of centre back choices. The bigger one however is Turner - our best defender until he got injured and thus surely a starter when fit BUT in my eyes he is not exactly a ball playing defender, his composure on the ball is lacking somewhat. In his case however his defensive prowess and heading ability (especially next to Cranie who is not the biggest CB in the world) should outweigh his faults.

Keogh - Cranie - Turner - Hussey is a pretty strong defence, my only slight worry would be hussey, who while he can be a good player in my eyes, I am not so assured/excited about him as everyone else seems to be.

That's a very good observation also. I think AT has difficulty in selection....
