The players appear to hate playing at the stadium, the atmosphere is awful given the fact that it is normally 70 per cent empty and it is an albatross around the club's neck financially. Perhaps time to play elsewhere (not sure where though, possibly a groundshare with Northampton?) until we can get out of this division and then see if ACL will have us back once we return to the Championship.

Why is it not worth debating? At the moment the Ricoh is undoubtedly negatively impacting on our fortunes on and off the pitch. In an ideal world it would be a theatre of football - it is a fine stadium which would grace the Premiership - but does it really suit our club's needs and has it not become a hindrance?

no we just need to have some investment in it! it snt our home at the moment as we are lodgers, we need to have a ground we own and we love. Sadly the Ricoh has been synonymous with our decline.

Can debate it all night if yiu wish, but its not a realistic proposition in our current sposition so we should channel energy elsewhere. There are ways of making it better buyt nobody seems willing to take tough decisiobs to move supporters and close a stand like v preston.

I hate the echo. Never wanted to leave highfield road. The echo is just that, an echo. We need a 15k stadium with a view to extend if ever that was required.

Could we not come to some arrangement where we return to the Ricoh if we get promoted to the Championship? One other factor is that teams raise there game when they come to the Ricoh as it is clearly the best stadium in League One. A bit like opposition teams always used to win against England in Test matches at Lords as it inspired the opposition. We need a fortress not a cathedral.

Based on Home form V's Away for this year the OP might pose a valid question?... my son and I have only been to two away games Spurs and Crewe JPT this year so are not best qualified to give a robust view but a question to those more travelled than us this year is; Fundamentally is there a huge difference in the way we set up or play Home V's Away? Or is it just the fact that at home we push on and get caught on the break whereas away our set up is based on the counter attack and Home teams force the play?

When the club is finally stable off the pitch the Ricoh will be an asset. Come the summer when we will be trying to sign players, the club can tell the players that our highest attendence this season was over 31k, now how many league 1 clubs can say that?

The Ricoh is the only thing that seperates us from the rest of the small clubs in this league.

The biggest issue for me isn't the ground, it's that as a big club we are expected to win at home. Sides put men behind the ball, time-waste and set up to counter attack us and exploit our weakness at set pieces and it works like a dream-the longer a game goes by without us in the lead, the more the fans get on the players backs, we lose cohesion, commit men forwards leaving space, and the sucker-punch gets us time after bloody time.

Away from home, there is more onus on the opposition to attack and we have the quality to exploit the significantly greater space in their defence-and don't need to commit our men forwards so much leading to exposure (notably the full-backs).


It has absolutely nothing to do with us not owning the ground.

Thats exactly the point, we can't play against teams who just defend. Until we do that we won't progress at home.

One season in league 1 and its our level?

Of the 93 years we've been in the league 75% of it is in the top two divisions. So this certainly is not our level.
