Maybe not you, kickin' it in the telegraph stand in your sleeping bag, but for those of us who dont pretend that the Ricoh was our saviour, I think it makes sense.

Oh and my gripe is nothing to do with parking problems: I pay a fiver at the cherry tree every other week, its the fact that even when were looking at play-offs, the club as an organisation is designed to bleed cash into the mysterious owners' pockets

HR was a cash cow for someone as well. HR of the 1970's was the place to be.

Agreed, it certainly was. I just think the Ricoh was an excuse for new owners to continue rinsing our funds for their own gain. Just like richardson did. Giving the fans a new stadium to sit in and talk about distracted us all from what was really going on, whilst they materminded a way of getting rich.

We should have told the owners we didnt want them, nor their plastic, over-priced, over-rated stadium

For christ sake, Fulham still playing at craven cottage and west brom at the hawthorns. HR would have done us for the next 10 years, especially when we were doomed for relegation and attendances were on the fall...

I just dont see any reason why we needed it, still dont think it has benefitted us & eventually will be the death of the club imo...

On that basis, I dont know how anyone can sit there and say, I think the Ricoh was a good idea....Its practically our burial site for all passing by on the M6 to witness

Without the Ricoh, SISU would never have came in and took the club on, so sooner or later we would have gone into administration and a downward spiral anyway.

Sleeping bag? So to be considered a passionate & proper fan I need to stand under the scoreboard singing?

You might want the HR song as your number 1 but as someone who had season tickets in the WT, ES & WS it doesn't fully apply to me & I don't have tinted glasses on Highfield Road.

I have a framed picture of HR & I glance sentimentally at it regularly. Fact is, staying at HR would have changed little of our financial state. We blew parachute payments, Setanta went tits up & we've paid off 11 sacked managers. Portsmouth haven't moved & don't own their stadium, we could very easily be alongside them now.

At the time the decision was made circumstances were different. Swansea, Stoke, Wigan, Southampton, Reading & Southampton all have new stadiums..... They seem happy enough.

When you go anywhere you have to pay for parking... why should football be any different. If parking really is such a bother, why don't you get one of the direct buses? Probably save you a few quid!!

Anyway, I really don't buy into this. There are many excuses people use, but that's all they are. I have a lot more time for people when they just admit that its because they are fed up or simply can't afford the time or money. Saying it's because of the "Soulless" Ricoh. It's a false economy. The reason it's soulless is because people like you don't turn up. The signings are't awe inspiring because people like you don't turn up.

If you can't bare to watch L1 football or you prefer the atmosphere at away games, just say so - they're valid enough reasons on their own without trying to slag off an experience that is good enough for 10,000 other people.

You haven't had to pay for parking at any other ground you've been to this season? That's fine, neither have I. But it's been because I've parked in streets round the other grounds. If I'd parked in car parks I'd expect to pay.

I travel up to games from Devon a fair few times a year - I get a package deal at Ricoh De Vere hotel - £85 for 2 tickets, a night in a decent room and free drink in casino. Plus you get free parking at the ground. What other football club offers that....BLOODY BRILL!

Our home now is the Ricoh. I have great memories of the Highfeild road, my first ever game, my first goal live (Micky Quinn v Chelsea) and going mental in the west terrace as a teen. But I'm not going to live in the past and wear rose tinted glasses all my life, I'd rather spend the energy making our new home something to be proud of.

You wouldn't sit in your missus's house singing "my ex was fitter than you!" Would you?

A better comparison (if its go to be about women) is the wife died and ill put up with the new Mrs cos I don't wanna be on my own!
Thus saying that the Ricoh was forced upon us whether we wanted it or not.

Just never bonded with the place.

The RICOH would be better if we actually owned it and got something from the 'state of the art' facility, I'd actually welcome the building of a new ground but ACL would compromise rather than force the club to build a new stadium.
