drifted to odds against - so far Curle, pemberton, brown - have all been odds on and all drifted

The bookies havent got a clue - as shown by the odds for barmby shortening to 2-1, after one person with no connection on twitter said he had been given a 3 year deal

We havent got a clue, and my guess is at the moment, nor have the board

sounds about right

Not keen on him, but he will get my backing like any manager would, except for Graham Westley :jerkit: Wouldnt expect anything from him as far as promotion goes but would back him until the results just got too ridiculous to support him. I he gets the job, which he probs will, good luck to him, you'll have my full backing and support, but he isnt my 1st choice by a long shot, and i wont expect anything, but good luck to him. PUSB!

What's so wrong with Keith Curle?

He wouldn't be my choice, but I can't say I have anything against the bloke or can see anything to particularly dislike about him.

His stats aren't bad either.

Tried to get a Notts County view however their forum had all of 4 people online...

Mixed reviews on a county forum. those who praise him belief it was a minority of the crowd who disliked him from day one that got him sacked and spoke about his record and how any other league one team would not have sacked him...also his record of 23 away games undefeated would never be broken.those against felt his tactics/philosophy where so negative attendances dropped, poor signings, and only got promoted due to the loans he was able to bring in.

Very mixed reviews all in all, though falling attendances was mentioned when he was sacked.

Looking at his career he has been hit ad miss but you would expect that from an inexperience manager

Bringing him in would be a gamble but one that could work

O yeah...he was head coach at Torquay not the manager someone above him in charge it seems so hard to attribute those stats to him

I think his record underwhelms many: he has multiple sackings and a couple of relegations to his name. The man is 50 this year and just has not really impressed at a number of clubs. Maybe things would click for him at Coventry, but he has done very little to warrant enthusiasm.

I can remember the Mansfield fans hating him, but didn't he work with under Warnock for a good while and re-emerge at Notts C as a completely different kettle of fish? He did alright with Notts Co. Given that he's not the same manager as he was before that long spell of coaching with Warnock, it's harsh to judge him on his record other than at Notts. If it meant getting the success of Warnock without having to have the horrible bloke that is Warnock, he could do a job for us!

we need someone with average 45+

Not necessarily. Win percentage (or points per game) means little without context. A manager of a resource-limited club may have a relatively low win-percentage despite extracting the most from their squad. Equally, a cash-rich team might make a middling manager's statistics look a lot better simply by virtue of the gold on the pitch.

True but winning games is a different kettle of fish to not losing them. A high win % somewhere usually also indicates promotion success, something we need.

Right, but I'm sure if given £20m then a Peter Reid could take a side up from the league. I think there's a much better chance of picking the right manager from a rigorous interview than from ever looking at their stats.
