Before anyone shoots the thread down in flames, I am only talking contingency and am not saying this is the way we should go. I am talking only in terms of if CCFC no longer exists and we were liquidated.

Just wondering if it is at least worth while fans trying to draw up some contingency plans and into consultation should we go to the wall.

Not saying that's going to happen here, but think we should at least have some preparation, i.e. at what level could we play, where we could play, would fans back a new club should CCFC no longer exist etc. etc.

Maybe the SBT are already looking into this, I don't know, but I certainly think City fans should at least be looking at an alternative future as a contingency if it all goes belly up.

Sad, but true.

It would be a mess. There would be a lot of in-fighting. You can guarantee the like's of Elliott and other old faces would be involved and that would annoy a lot of people who would want a fresh start. Who though? The whole thing would have to be bankrolled by somebody or a consortium, and they would want a controlling stake to protect their investment, which probably wouldn't sit too well with the SBT who would want fan ownership and the club to be run as a mutual. Horrendous mess it would be.

Maybe you're right.

Could see a new club at grassroots maybe working. Starting at a much higher level would be problematic for sure.

Wouldn't surprise me if the club did go that two clubs emerged, a kind of a continuation club, essentially made of the current structure less SISU, and a club run entirely by supporters like FCUM.

Pure speculation of course, but there would be one almighty royal rumble as different factions wrestled for control.

Perhaps that's how we can resolve all this, a royal rumble. I just hope everyone would gang up on that lefty gobshite Mutton and chuck him out first.

It would be catastrophic but your are right to raise it. Many one here Coundon? Hugh, CJ Swiss all have some romanticised notion this will be an ideal scenario.

If the rent row remains unresolved we will in all probability be wound up. Fisher I think convinced sisu to invest this season and give it one more go. He is not supported by the fans and sounded to me like even he thinks the game is up. If he had been in charge post ranson we may have survived.

Liquidation means conference football. I won't go and I've been for 40 years. So the crowd will collapse. All contracts are cancelled and we will have no ground.

That is the best scenario. Worst is conference vote against us and we end up in the same league as Coventry sphinx.

A good mob of us chatting away tonight in a pub in SW Leics..........8 Sky Blues all been to the match plus an ex City goalkeeper and 4 Cov Rugby fans.......all been to the Butts today. A small enclave in a sea of potential hostility, when you add that to literally tens of thousands across Cov and Warks it gave me hope that hook or by crook that it might take a few years but this club would come back without the baggage of a vile hedge fund and a pile of debt from other dubious decades of mismanagement. A city of 315,000 and a catchment of 500,000 with a history of nigh on 130 years will resurrect.

this could potentially be the best thing for us moving forward.

it's either a few years of a miserable slow death under sisu or we can start again and build our own success!

Contingency plans are in place should something happen, don't think people are just sitting idley by watching this club die.,SISU are buggered, a busted flush, just don't know how to stack their hand. The name Coventry City will continue.

If the current CCFC ceases to exist there would probably for 3 or 4 'phoenix clubs' vying to be its successor. Basically the first to successfully negeotiate new rent terms with ACL will be the new CCFC as they will be the only one with potential.

They will be in the conference at best or more likely the 7th or 8th tier. What will the offer be? A bag of crisps for a seasons rent?

I don't know if I could love an AFC Coventry in the same way as I love Coventry City, I'd probably pack it up altogether and play rugby on Saturdays instead, but if this AFC CCFC was to become any good, I MIGHT support it, I don't know, I'd be distraught if anything of the sought happened now!

Nobody knows the real facts as to how much SISU have invested in the club but the fact remains that it must have been a substantial sum.
The prime motive, as a hedge fund, was to get the club into the Premiership and then sell out at a substantial profit.
Having failed in their original objective and having been unable to purchase the ground they are left with an empty and unsaleable asset and are now in a quandary as to what to do next.
Do they risk forfeiting any sums invested and let the club flounder or continue to bank roll it in the hope that our fortunes improve and we eventually reach the promised land?

I've pondered this before...what if ACL have designs on bidding for CCFC at the death or if/when placed into administration - or maybe they know of an interested party already...someone they'd happily have as a partner in the Stadium & also happy they buy the Higgs share?

AFC Coventry would just take its place, albeit from the bottom. Isn't that the point of this thread?

With sisu at the helm it'll happen anyway.... its never been a matter of "if" but "when".

Most of us realised this years ago.

Yep. People for some reason still talking admin, but in reality it is liquidation.

I think if we started again it would probably be in the Blue Square.

And I cannot possibly see how we could play at the Ricoh, unless ACL offered the ground for nothing.

But not if the Newco ended up outside the City for a time. You've said in the past you couldn't support a team that are now BASED in Coventry. Correct?

I couldn't support a team that the current owners take out of the City due to their own mismanagement of the Club.

I could support a Newco based out of the City with long term aims to move back to its homeland.

chester city are a prime example - hopelessly mis managed went to the wall
now 19 points clear of conference north, and i expect they will be back in the football league within 2 years - probably playing us in league 2 if we still exist

so liquidation may not be the answer, but it would be nice, just to be able to talk football, and not being handicapped every season by off the field events

This season under a permanent manager we have been on top of the table form
under the spells of a temporary manager it is bottom of the table form

the current embargo means even if we still have a 5% chance of the play offs - have a look at our scoring options again if clarke were to get injured

i would have to be playing at the level of say bedworth, but in the long run(5 years time) i may look back and say that was the best thing to happen to us

Think acl /CCC expect ccfc/sisu to go into admin not liquidate, why would it definitely be liquidation please?

I've past caring , this bullshit of a so called love triangle is taking the fun and enjoyment out of the game for me. I hope we go to the wall and start afresh where the supporters own the club and have a say in its day to day running. I personally wound not want to play at the Ricoh , if we go belly up its got to be a fresh start and new beginning. A new ground in the city . For me there would be to many bad memories , so we would put the goest to sleep once and for all. AFC Coventry here we come
