I've been thinking about some form of new start for a good few seasons now.
As far as I'm concerned we are Coventry City Football Club and we therefore can dictate the future. What I mean is, 'where we decide to place our support, therefore gate and merchandise funding, will be the direction of the club'.
Just as long as the name has Coventry within it, and we remain Sky Blue in colour, I'll continue to believe we exist. After all, the city has a history of rebuilding itself.
The fanbase is obviously split over this and we may lose a few (Grendel, Torchy and company) but we may also see a few of the recently departed, and thoroughly disenchanted, return as well. The split may even resemble those Wimbledon fans that moved to the 'clone' of MK Dons. To me Wimbledon remain Wimbledon and they are the true Dons.
So, cards on the table, my priority is to lose the hedge fund and I'd also be happy to walk away from The Ricoh and ACL if necessary. I'd even give up league status if the alternative is a Coventry 'Sky Blue' football club that felt like the one I used to be proud of.
