Who Will New Manager Be? Ask Waggott Tonight (1 Viewer)

What were the non-footballing reasons behind Andy Thorn's appointment?

"Cheapest option" would be the honest answer......which will be why we haven't got a new guy in now.
Today's "cheapest option" is not to choose one and continue with the guy who doesn't want it.
Jeeeeez, you simply could not make up the joke ccfc has become.
I'm actually laughing at the absurdity....:p:p

Ask him what is his job with an embargo in place? Also with the transfer windows what does he do for the other 10 months and does his salary, likely to be six figures constitute good value??

Thorn was a legitimate contender as well as the fan's choice as manager, he had a good team and he did well with them, however, in the 10-odd games in his caretaker role, his tactical nous wasn't test and he showed his tactical inflexibility all too much in the next season

I think it's unfair to use AT's appointment as a way to criticise the owners, he surpassed expectation and got the job, deservedly.

Pertinence of the question and skill and intelligence of the questioner probably the problem:

"So, Faggot, when are Shitsu fecking off out of the club and taking that evil slag Joyless with them"? "SHITSU OUT"!

Seems to be the level generally found on here anyway.

Lol...funny, but I expect personal insults will not bear fruit either.

For me the buck stops at those that made the appointment........
THE QUESTION IS - who will they choose NOW?

The more it drags on the clearer it is that "the cheapest option" is what drives this "search".

Nobody with any credibility will touch this toxic club any way.

Clearly they won't choose the cheapest option, because I would do it for free, would I be any good? Very, very unlikely, but I'd be the cheapest option nonetheless.

The new manager will have to be affordable (which isn't cheapest) with the best qualifications in our price range.

Mark Robins had, well, still has (not if he keeps losing 4-1 ;) :jerkit: ) and he came, Paul Ince has credibility, Dennis Wise has some credibility and he applied last time and probably has this time. We won't get a world-class manager, but we could get a decent manager.

Pressley now the bookmakers' favourite, at 2s and evens. Somebody must know something there - he has been backed since the beginning.

SBT,
Look, anyone with a modicum of intelligence can see that three weeeks ago when MR left and with an outside chance of the play offs it was important to get someone in quickly.
Di Canio left Swindon after MR left here.
They have already replaced him with a decent choice - the evidence was Saturday.

We're still fucking around despite having just gone through the process a few months ago.

Like I said, we're a joke.....a sick joke. Anyone (like Waggot) who tries to fob off anyone with BS like; "we're doing our best" "we've got it down to a shortlist of four"
needs to realise that ccfc fans can see through the charade. Well some of us can........;)

The difference this time is because of all the known problems that exist and continue, actually getting a new manager in that we consider suitable is probably more difficult this time.

Yes someone like Phil Brown may snap up another opportunity to get back in the game and risk what may happen but can Waggot convince any of the others who are ambitious, talented, willing to work under such constrictions placed on the club and ticks all the boxes for us?

That is a real talent you have. Many think they have this talent - although really usually...they think they see things even though they haven't.

Which is exactly the reason to not appoint a long term manager now. Get someone in on a short rolling contract, otherwise we will just be giving someone a 3 year contract who we will have to sack in 8 months.

When the off pitch problems are sorted, then appoint a long term manager.

There's a piece on the Beeb today about how Swansea are already scouting out their next manager in preparation for the day Laudrup leaves. Huw Jenkins is quoted saying "We wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't have some idea of who... will suit Swansea City." In fairness to Waggott, Swansea aren't shopping in the bargain bin like he is, but that line is food for thought... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21647609

His appointment? Probably can't blame them for that. The failure to sack him however? An absolutely monumental mistake.
