Went to watch the academy at the ricoh today. In my opinion we should stick some of these youngsters in at the deep end as I think the play offs are out of reach .I'm not a fan of the loan signings just paperin over the cracks. They won't be here next year. Need to build for next year and use the remaining games to see who's good enough. Thoughts?

Would wait till it's pretty much mathematically impossible as while there is even the faintest hope you have to put out your strongest side.

Yeah I agree a few came on and did ok. Willis and Henderson are academy and they looked as good and more composed on the ball as any of the first team/reserves/ fringe players

Was it not partly as a result of pushing the youth team in "at the deep end" that got us into League 1?

I'm very pro-loan signings, a full contract means very little today! A Loanee will work his balls off to play and if he drops that standard can be sent back.

Agreed Scroob if they tend to have something to prove !!!

If you go through the squad I think a lot of players over 25 got us relegated not the youth. The fate was sealed long before they played the young lads.
As for loans I can see your point but just papers over the cracks. As we saw with Mcgoldrick where's he now? Only the average loans will stay permanent the good ones put in 100% to get another club to give them a better deal.it's bad enough not owning a ground but not owning players as well!

I get what you are saying but by the same token, take Sammy Clingan for example had a deal with us... In comes Olly Norwood - who was better for the team? who actually worked? and where are they now?

As I said previous i'd happily see Cov become a finishing school for young talented players if for nothing else it means we get to talk about new signings every week, at a fraction of the cost! What is loyalty these days anyway!

Yeah I agree, we are just in a difficult position to know what's best for the club I suppose.we need to get back in the championship ASAP and maybe the only way is to get experienced loans in rather than youth. Just frustrating as it seems we will still be in this league at the end of the season even with these players. I believe if they had done the upmost to keep Mcgoldrick we would be in play off positions and going to wembley in the cup which would of generated money to maybe sign him long term. The whole thing is just frustrating. I was kinda saying that between now and the end of the season stick some of the youngsters in a find out how good they are rather than waste time with loans now. I agree If we secured a few good loans next year to get us up that would be the way to go. At least this way we would see if its worth keeping some of them or not. The lad who played up front who Willis and Henderson marked quite well yesterday has just signed for Blackpool on loan so I think he's no mug and those two did really well. I also though Wilson looked good 2 but it might be a different story in the first team I agree .

They don't normally play there but have a few games scheduled there. If you look at the fixtures it's normally on there where the game is. I think there is another soon normally 1pm kick off. 3 quid to get in. Is good to go and watch to be honest gives u a idea of what we have and what we don't have in reserve. They tried to play football yesterday and did well for the majority of the game. I wouldn't be happy if I was watching the Leicester academy two big lads up front and just played long ball. Good test for the young centre backs. Leicester striker "Futkas" signed on loan for Blackpool today so they were no mugs.

Many fans there? Did you have to pay to get in?

Hmm, not sure, not at this stage, well, maybe 2 or 3 on the bench or something. Thomas NEEDS to start and atm, it's a disgrace he isn't starting.

Who was you impressed with Deano? Lobjoit, Willis, Garner by any chance?

Willis and Henderson at the back. Fleck looked quite good for 70 mins but then looked if he got tired. Wilson looked quite sharp upfront but missed a couple of chances.the good thing was they did try and play football, where as Leicester just lumped it forward to two big blokes! Bell looked ok as well looks like he's getting fit and stuck some good crosses in. Wasn't overly impressed with Jordan Clarke or Malaga when he came on.

Thomas done ok and broke up play but was a bit disappointed with his final ball in the last third. He did look to run with the ball and push forward. I agree I would defo give him a run of games to see how he does in the first team. Think it's a confidence thingfl for him as well.

my mate Blythy scored 2 for Leicester. There's a lad we should try and get in on loan next season if possible
