Trouble at the game (3 Viewers)

Noticed a bit of a police corden round the Wheatsheaf on the way past (someone arguing about JPT tickets?) and then the helicopter overhead, so I wasn't surprised that there was some kind of nonsense going on. Why Swindon though?

I saw about 20 Cov with their faces covered heading for the underpass shortly after full time. Someone I know who works in Next says there were big groups of City fans looking trouble and that there were a couple of big flare ups that she witnessed. You could sense it all afternoon yesterday, trouble was in the air.

Is it just me that finds phrases such as "I saw about 20 Cov" cringeworthy? You're not in Football Factory ffs.

What? What on earth are you babbling on about?

So if somebody asked you after an away game "how many Cov were there", you'd think he was making a reference to football hooligans?

Cov = Coventry just in case you weren't aware of that fact. So I'll rephrase it for you:

"I saw a group of about 20 Coventry.." Better?

Fucking hell, this place is full of idiots.

I think he's refering to the grammar.

Maybe it would make more sense if it read:

"I saw a group of about 20 Coventry fans with covered faces heading for the underpass"

Better??

He was not referring to grammar and you know it.

Whether or not it is grammatically correct is neither here nor there, the implication was that I was in some way trying use language that is synonymous with football hooligan culture hence the reference the Football Factory, when all I did was say "I saw 20 Cov...", in the same way that if I were a United fan I would say "I saw 20 United walking to the underpass..".

Perhaps all the way up there on his high horse the air is a bit thin so I suppose allowances should be made.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the grammar.

I've seen the Football Factory (regrettably) but reading '20 Cov' doesn't remind me of it, even when I imagine it read in the dulcet tones of Danny Dyer. Odd link.

Best days of my football following life, never a dull moment...................some of us should have been awarded campaign medals for the good epic battles of the West Mids, Nottingham, West London and Far Gosford Street !! I'm a bit long in the tooth now but young lads have to expend a bit of energy !!
;)
I was part of the legion too, but now married and have two kids. You just couldn't beat the buzz of it...almost an addiction. I was only a young kid back then, it was all about respect and loyalty. Trust was endless among our members, and the older members looked after the younger ones. They did whatever it took to keep them out of trouble and away from drugs. Hooligans are fans and are sometimes the most passionate; being involved just happens.
You are both dickheads.
Or Leicester. Still remember them all yelling homophobic chants outside Brighton station last season!
Whoa there! Get a grip. There's a very, very small minority of complete fuckwits in our support. Very small.

But boy, are they fuckwits.

Did they all happen to find themselves in one place by mistake? Didn't bother me a massive amount but it just lacks class.

Was that the fella Elijah hung around with? I couldn't believe when I found out he was actually English. How do you get an accent that hilariously bad?

Accident, no. They tend to travel together. There are faces I recognise from away matches who I would expect to have been involved. And I totally agree, that sort of thing doesn't belong anywhere near our game, or even in our society.

It was, but really? wow! I assumed he was foreign too, I'll have to look it up now. He sounded eastern european in parts when his accent dipped.

It's not just Leicester as it goes-though your lot were the worst I saw (I didn't live far from the main station). Just something about playing Brighton which draws out especially idiotic elements of a fanbase.

Absolutely spot on. And there's a small number who will boo returning players regardless of the manner of their departure. Cretins.

I believe it reflects weakness, lack of confidence & lack of intelligence. The only way to have a good time is to hide behind your mates & throw abuse of any kind at anyone who is either weaker or less fortunate - or who cannot get at them to knock seven bells out of them.

How has the KP ground purchase been funded, by the way? I mean-has it come from a loan to the club, or do the Thais own it separately?

According to the official statement, it's been purchased by the Srivaddhanaprabha family via their company K Power Holdings Co Ltd, so it doesn't belong to the club. It belongs to the owners.

£30m annual loss, club owes millions to the owners, players on huge wages. It can only end well can't it?
