Personally I have not interest in these ratio's

People were quoting them to attack Thorn whilst the owners were taking responsibility for the relegation.

Roberto Martinez I am sure has a crap ratio

Graeme Souness would have had an incredible one at Rangers turns out he was a crap manager.

Robins had done stuff in our realm of Football.

Unless I am missing something Pressley has done very little in terms of anything worth looking at him for.

To be fair Don, people Didn't need to quote win ratios to attack Thorn. There was a whole treasure trove to draw from if truth be told.

Managers with glowing achievements tend not to end up at third division sides on a downer.

The only problem with him that he isn't Eric Black, a lot of fans will not give him a chance unless we aren't winning every game.

A lot were unsure of Robin's before he came in and there is nothing to suggest Pressley couldn't do a job for us.

Considering that some still hold Thorn in high regard, it is insane that SP is already being written off.

Robins had achieved a hell of a lot more relevant stuff.

Pressley has overseen a relegation and a stagnant season in a crap league.

Thinking about probably very relevant for us.

Robins seem to get overall a positive reaction in here, even though it came out if the blue

Also do you think that appointment would give the players their massive boost for the final surge.

They are better off gaming a temporary bloke in for the last ten games who can inspire.

I don't want to slate anyone before they come (apart from Phil Brown) but if he was possibly going to be sacked then that is a worry and big concern.

I think you are exaggerating the reaction, to be fair. People aren't electrified by the appointment, but they have no reason to be. I'm sure he'll get broad backing, like most CCFC managers, and it will be interesting to see how he does.

I'd be careful people, you don't want people quoting this thread when he takes us up via the playoffs ;)

I shouldn't be surprised but it does make me wonder what sort of fans we have when they attack a man who not only hasn't taken the job yet but who has only just been approached. Give him a chance! It's what he does for us that's important, not what he has/hasn't done in the past.

All this 'he's done nothing' smacks of the criticism labelled on players. Ala McGoldrick, and Clarke!

Can we not just accept that we have to give him a chance before we will know if he will be a success or not?

Exactly, and the irony here being quick to judge someone we know little about but blindly supporting a certain manager with 14 wins over 2 seasons we know all about.

It doesn't matter a fishes tit who the manager is, if the players are shite there going to be shite.if your a defender you don't need anyone to tell you to defend. If your a midfielder you know what your supposed to do, same as forwards.
If the players don't know there job/ positions and what is expected, there in the wrong JOB. I'm sure Manu players could play without fergie or anyone else on the touch line.
Give sky blue Sam the job.

Not sure if serious.

Using Robins as a recent example. Of course it matters who the manager is.

Yeah, ones we've had before like Black, which is a backwards step. Pressley has never been here and should be given a chance. Anyway, he might not even be the one yet.

However, I'd rather have him than Black.

Why would you rather have him than black?
You realize the gulf between SPL and Scots 1st is massive and falkirk are failing

We are League One. People seem to forget that.

As for Black he hasn't been a manager in his own right for a decade. Says it all to me.

Am I missing something what has he achieved?

How's about we give him a chance if he's appointed? yes his 'achievement' record isn't all that great but at least see what he has to say for himself and can do for this club (if he get's appointed)

Lets think of this logically, the criteria we needed for our new manager they needed (IMO) :
1) Win % over 40
2) young and ambitious
3) working within a budget
4) develop young players
5) successful
6) affordable

And Pressley compared to that criteria :
1) yes 43% is it
2) yes young obviously ambitious
3) yes next to no money at Falkirk
4) yes look at Falkirk squad lots of youngsters with a lot of games for their age
5) yes 2 semi finals and a trophy with Falkirk (relative success)
6) must be otherwise we wouldn't approach them

Now with Waggot saying at that meeting we need to cut wage bill offload high earners did he say ? Obviously next season squad will be dismantled so need someone who can work on a shoestring budget and will need to use our youth players and develop them which Pressley knows how to do.

That is my logic and why I am behind the appointment if it happens, I'm not saying he's a messiah he just fits the bill for our requirements

Fully my opinion, I am now prepared to be shot down ... Go

So we have to employ a manager who is failing in a worse division than we are in?? NO

Look at the players we got from the SPL a far superior league than pressley manages in. Not exactly good are they??

Considering that Don fervently backed Thorn, and probably still considers him to be a decent manager, it is madness that he has already written off Pressley who has already achieved far more than Thorn ever would do will in his management career.

Our owners took responsibility by admitting they failed to invest in players and managers. There is almost universal consensus Thorn was a disaster and win ratio is not even that relevant (not even 0% in League One)

At least he stayed long enough to ensure the other myth -- he was a great scout -- was blown out the water as well.

Let's be honest, all the previous managers we've had over the past 10 years have been successful previously... But were woeful with us.

Perhaps Thorn will replace Pressley at Falkirk -- then again perhaps not.

Fergie nearly got sacked , if it wasn't for some really exceptional players ( Giggs, Scholes,Beckham ,Butt ect, he would have got the bullet.
Like I said if the players are good they will play to there strengths . A person on the touch line can shout instructions all he wants, but if he has no one good enough it won't change a thing. Just my opinion.
If we had Fergie as our manager with the players we have can you see them becoming brilliant over night ? In which case they are just not trying

Torch will you please stop being so fucking patronising, Yes WE ALL know what league we are in, how the fuck can we forget it.
Why can't we have a little ambition, do we always have to have the cheapest person on the job market, who manages in a virtual pub league, and he's midtable in that, without some fucker coming up like a parrott with Alziemers "people forget what league we are In".

We have to get people back up the Ricoh, we need more bums on seats, the only way to do it and take this bloody mess of a club forward and start to pay off what we owe is by playing forward attacking football, Falkirk fans, yes Falkirk fans were due to protest about the appalling standard of football, and this in a pub league, how the fuck is he going to fair in league 1, a standard four times that of Scottish league 1,they even have part time teams in that league for fucks sake and he still can't get near the top.

Torch please please give it a rest and change your tune, its getting on my fucking nerves

and regarding Black he has spent nearly all his working life as assistant managers, but the only time he did get a go of it on his own,he did rather well did'nt he.You tell people not to judge people then you do it yourself by writing off a bloke who has'nt been given a proper chance yet

You say we have gone for the cheapest option. A cheap option by definition would be a manager not already at another club.

The fact is several clubs have been linked with Presley and his reputation as an emerging manager in Scotland is good.

The only reason anyone considered black is because he is a former manager and is purely nostalgia. If we had appointed anyone else who was out of work had not managed for several years and then only half a season you would be complaining he was a cheap option.

On the face of it Sillett was a cheap option and Atkinson an inspired one. No one can tell.

I will back him like I do with every manager

However I would be very surprised if any of genuinely look at what he done in football management and think.

That's the man for us lets go and get him and pay composition for him.

Can you tell what it is exactly that you find inspiring?
