Says the lads prefer playing away as they don't get the boos and abuse like at Home.

He replies well to some embarrassing abuse

Yeah, but to be fair, they don't get the abuse away cos they keep winning.

Bit of a chicken and egg scenario, but if they won at home they wouldn't get the abuse.

I agree with Baker...

Away from home, the noise the passion and the general support for the team is better than at home.
One misplaced pass and you get a toasting. You don't see it as much away.

I'm not saying it is great but all clubs have to put up with increased pressure and expectation at home. Blaming the support for poor form strikes of feeling sorry for themselves an loser mentality

Sorry, but bollox. Yes he might try and do too much sometimes, but 14 goals and x number of assists, not to mention wearing the badge. Have to sit with a fooking prick to the back of me week in and week out giving it out. Worse part of today was the utter pissed arse in a suit who came down from the boxes to deliver the abuse, more than once. Fook off, the lot of them. Feel ashamed to be a City fan sometimes.

Don't agree with giving abuse, but professional players, especially ones as old as Baker, shouldn't let it affect their performance.

Those giving stick, it did come out wrong. That's the original post, it was a reply, not a direct message about the preference of home or away games.

Why make a comment like that, its an insult to the home fans who do support the team week in week out. Hes basically saying you pay me £4000 grand a week but we play crap at home because you dont support us enough and were not professionals.

Im a bit sad if he has said this because i really like baker as a person and a player.

It's was aimed at the minority that booed frequently tonight. Terrible stick tonight. Some agree with abuse and stick, keep don't and think it affects the players.
Bakers said it effects the players

Reading it I think he said it in heat of the moment nothing to get worked up over, although if it wasnt in the head I would be pissed off as its unfair on the majority of us fans who support the team and get behind them

I said the below before he said it-he's completely justified in what he said, our support is shameful:

I think I was virtually the only person in B21 who was cheering on Baker as he twice ran through a brick wall to close his man down, then again to keep the ball in play-leading to our first goal. Many of our fans had given up and were too busy indulging in their rage. What happened to "Fight 'Till the Game is Won?" Sure it's frustrating, but we'd played some of our best football for ages up until the Colchester goal; then heads understandably dropped after we'd dominated, the fans turned and started with their heckles, and confidence visibly drained from the players.

Why can't we all be a bit more like the fans who go away every week and actually support our players? There are a lot of CCFC "supporters" who actually go up there wanting certain players to fail!

One of the biggest things wrong with this football club is it's bitter and negative supporters. We can't expect players to flourish and thrive if all they get is grief-they need passion, encouragement and support-like the away fans give. If we all made the kind of noise they did at home games The Ricoh would be a fortress. It really is no wonder that we're the best away side division and one of the worst at home!

It wasnt really aimed at the minority though, he should have aimed the comment at this fan personally. By saying its why the lads prefer playing away is disrespecting the whole home support.

I cant think of any other time when the fans have been so detached from the club and players as now. Its like us and them.

Face it our home fans are shit.

Colchester's 60 odd fans outsung us today. Our fans get on to the players way to early and offer zero encouragement. I admit occasionaly the fans at home get behind the team, but a lot of the time, especially when we go behind, the fans get on to the team and the atmosphere becomes toxic.

Nonleagueherewecome: completely agree with your post. From what I've experienced, the Telegraph stand is by far the worst for it. I can understand (but very rarely participate in) booing at half or full time, which in my opinion shows displeasure at the teams general performance over a decent amount of time. During the game is so stupid though! I only play 5 aside, but even at that, if someone booed and hurled abuse at me for every misplaced pass, it would affect my game.

Honestly, I know they're professionals and well paid, but I do feel sorry for the players at home games. I wish the section of support who act like this would chant and encourage with such energy.

Also he should remember where the majority f the money comes from that pays his and 'the lads' wages.

Its catch 22 home atmosphere nothing like away. A game is 90 mins so never understood the boos at half time when losing 0 1. Its encouragement needed especially when been creating chances.
Another matter if completly dire.
