Got to be injured, would be churlish to leave him out just because he won't sign a new contract and not giving him a final send-off

That's Wat I thought. Do u think they are blooding quirke through for nxt year?

Absolutely. Unless we get a keeper in the summer this young man will start as our No1 and judging by his first half performance today he will be OK

I think he will have already signed for some one else, not sure why he is not playing though!

Because you don't need to move house, and you'll still be in the first team.

he will be 2nd choice at Villa and will then end up going on loan to Burnley or something...

Look what happened to Chris Kirkland. In my opinion one of the best young keepers we ever had. He went on to Liverpool for his big chance, also made an appearance for England and was then sold on to Wigan. Has now faded as a poor memory. Westwood will go the same way! Let him go. He's relaceable!

I think his solo lap spoke volumes and shows hes on his way, if hes not already gone (as in hes already signed for a n other!!) I imagine he'll b goin somewhere to wsrm a bench.

Best of luck to him. I hold no grudges if or when he does go. Hes served us well and earnt us several points over his time with us.

Let's face the facts
Imo Westwood is good enough to get in to probably 1/2 of the sides in the premiership, he would be mad to stay at a club that has little investment coming in an a poor chance of getting promoted next year. Where as he could be number 1 for a stable premiership club earning 20k a week

However I would say Westwood is still relatively young for a keeper an still has yet to reach his peak imo, he doesn't want to move to a club that will stunt his development

I wouldn't want to stand in his way of a move but only if it is to a premiership club

Westwood is a good shot stopper but you need to remember that almost every Premier League team now have top quality goalkeepers. Which team is weak in that area in PL?

Arsenal - not really, Aston Villa - maybe with Friedel getting on, Birmingham - no, Blackburn - might be going down but have an England quality goalie, Blackpool - probably going down and couldn't afford wages, Bolton - no, Chelsea - no, Everton - no, Fulham - no, Liverpool - no, Man City - no, Man Utd - will probably sign someone much better to replace Van der Sar, Newcastle - maybe but might stick with Harper and Krul also have Fraser Forster, Stoke - not really, Sunderland - not strong but not weak either, Spurs - Redknapp might sign him and 3 others as back-up, West Brom - Carson has been poor so might sign someone to replace him, West Ham - no, Wigan - If they keep Al-Habsi and don't go down then they don't need a new keeper, Wolves - Weakest in that area but are likely to go down.

In all only 3 Premier League clubs might sign a goalkeeper with Westwood available and only at Wolves really does he have a good chance of being No 1. I think the Celtic move is best for him but Aston Villa can afford to pay someone top money to be back-up. Leicester rumour is just scaremongering whilst they do need a good keeper, Westwood would probably see it as a sidewards step, so only clubs going up this year (Q.P.R.? or Norwich or Cardiff) would have a good chance of signing him

IMO he gets in to Arsenal, UTD (when van der sar leaves), Wolves, Blackpool, West Brom, Wigan, Aston Villa (friedel retiting soon), Newcastle, Stoke

Obvs the top sides like Arsenal/UTD are looking at better options but he is better than what they currently have, but I see no reason why he couldn't be #1 for any of the other clubs I have mentioned, an also the promoted clubs bar QPR who have Kenny

Currently he has been exposed behind a poor side for much of his time here. I think with some better players in front of him and that bit older and more experienced he would really shine. Some clubs he may have to wait for his chance but nothing phazes him and I think he would quickly become first choice almost anywhere as soon as an opportunity presented itself to demonstrate his class. He is consistent and occasionally makes some unbeliveable saves. Oggy remains my all-time favourite City player but I can offer Westy no higher praise than to say that I think he is technically superior to Oggy.

Of course Westy has yet to do it in the top flight and for his overall contribution, his appearances and of course the cup final Oggy will always be my number one as Mr Coventry City - in fact I would have had him registered as a player for situations like today when it looked pre-game like Quirke was out too and Burge was in and I think I would have felt safer with Oggy! No disrespect to the young lad but I reckon Oggy could still do a decent job if called on.

I think that Blackpool, Newcastle and Stoke believe that they have better keepers than Westwood. Based on talent then he would definitely get in to Blackpool's team out of those three but Newcastle and Stoke have better keepers with at least better experience. The comment about him getting in to Arsenal and Man Utd (without Van der Sar) is obviously based on opinion but I still believe that Szczesny and Kuzsczak are better than Westwood

in my opion i think he would be mad to leave us to go to scotland and also to go to most premier league teams. ok if he goes celtic he will play but the scotish pl is no better than the championship. The teams he is likely to go to in the prem (other than previous mentioned) are the likes of everton maybe fulham or bolton them kind of teams but if he dose go to the likes of them i think he will only be a no2 so in my opion why bother leaving to sit on a bench and not play. or is he only going for the money that is how i see it

Yea I am obviously slightly biased towards Westwood though :p

If the rumours are true that Villa are prepared to pay 2mill. then I say get rid now. Westwood is no better than the other keepers in this league and with Scunny getting relegated today then surely Murphy will be available in the summer.

You do realise he is out of contract?
Means no transfer fee

Why would Villa pay 2mill for a free agent?

That would make sense......if he wasn't 26 years old :|
Your absolutely correct...Sorry. It may be that he feels so sorry for us that he told them that he would not sign unless they agreed to pay us a fee or that the rumours are wrong!
