What should we aim for next season? (2 Viewers)

I think that next season mid table will be satisfactory considering the limitations the club has at the moment but Lambert at Norwich proves that teams can quickly get out of this league.

yeah i agree mid-table with our current situation players leaving/no money but play-offs if players sign/investment and add 1 or 2 more quality players

Aim for mid table, and we will struggle.

Blackpool demonstrated it can be done on a budget, as long as you have great team spirit- which we appear to have right now, with Andy Thorn.

Key players to keep - Sammy Clingan, Martin Cranie, Bell and King.

listing to the new CEO on Friday nights phoning it seems they are very very close on investment front. Clive did mention Hoffman but the new CEO kinda bypassed him in regards of him being an investor, though did say the investors were local and international. I personally think next season playing like that we have a great chance of a decent season, we only need 3 or 4 players in my view with blooded academy players to make this system work. I also don't think it matters whos in the team either, as its a team of 11 players not a team of 1 or 2!

Thorn knows this and i am sure he knows what he needs to do in the summer to start next season strongly!

And Keogh, Hussey, and a Goalkeeper (incase the transfer embargo isn't lifted)

As of now, we don't have any goalkeepers for next season that have signed contracts. They were only offered to Westwood and Burge and neither have signed.

Neither can sign untill the Embargo is lifted, and that includes the other contracts as well!

The fans forum on wednesday will bring light on whats happening with the embargo and contracts!

I will be there and will ask the question if they don't get asked before!

You have to aim high , every match you play you go into it looking and hoping for a win . I think the way they are playing at the moment they would be looking at top half somewhere near the play offs . Lose good players and not replace them - bottom half

Playoffs! Nothing less will be acceptable. I'm fed up of being a nothing team. So many teams have done it on limited resources. Why can't we? If we play that type of football next year then we will win alot more games than we lose.

We thought the recent press conference wud bring light on whats happening but all we got from that was lies! Lets hope Clouty speaks more honest on his own

I don't think we got lies from it,

A few miss understandings maybe but i don't think they lied in the press confrence.

I advise you to listen CWRs friday phone in on the Iplayer! The new CEO is pretty good on it.

Ill do that. I dont like being negative, but after blatently lying about the meeting with the council re the ground etc (ok only 1 lie, and i do consider it a lie because they thought they were tellin us summit we would want to hear, not realising the council would publicly correct them) im not sure what to believe.

when they start to invest on the pitch, ill be happy, as by god, we need it!

Thats understandable, the problem i have is the reaction the council made. It was i they didn't want to speak to them and that they had never lied to misunderstud a situation before. I actually think the position we are in is alot brighter than under Ranson, where everything was kept in a dark room with no lights! With this and the appointment of Thorn i think next season could actually be exciting or a change!

I would say that we have to aim for the play-offs.
Any team is capable of doing it in that league, they just need to get they act together.

You always have to push for promotion as there is no point in playing in the league. Every team has the ability to pull something togetehr and go up as long as they have the backing of their management. Having said that it can easily go the other way, you only have to look at the teams who went down, Sheff Utd who did get promoted recently and Preston who were always there abouts ande both now playing league 1 football. There will be some big teams coming down this year so this is going to become even more difficult to compete for the top 6.

For fans expectation can bring alot of frustration, as all Sheff utd and Preston fans would of started out this season hoping for play offs!!!, and look what they are looking forward to now. For me mid table with a decent standard of football and good away days in the cup i'll be happy.

But AT should be pushing his players to continue the 2 defeats in 10 consistantcy and aim as high as they can and if they think big they can go as far as they want. He has young players that are keen to prove what they can do and with some added experience and quality things can happen as Norwich, Blackpool have shown in recent years. So heres hoping but happy we are at least showing signs of playing the correct way with some home grown talent being brought through.

Course they can sign contracts even with a transfer embargo, we're not bringing them in to the club!

I think we should aim to have a stable season with, as CableGuy said, no silly runs of no wins in 10. If we can stay consistent and pick up points throughout then a comfortable top 12 isn't out of reach. If we're in the mix come Jan/Feb then who knows. I'm just hoping to see an improved effort on the pitch each game, and that will be a good enough season under AT for me.

Aim for safety. Don't get carried away, next season could potentially be a lot worse than this one. SISU have zero intention of investing in the team, their priorities are in the stadium now. We are losing Westwood, King, Gunnarsson, Quirke for definate. Possible sales of players such as Clingan, Craine & Turner to cover operating costs. Remember, a few weeks back we were rescued with 8m to keep us going. SISU will not do that again, and will sell anyone who attracts interest.

Personally I think we should set out to aim for the top, anything else sells the supporters and team short.

However.........

It is expectation that has to be managed. Already you can see it some fans..... top six, promotion are all being mentioned as being where we will and should be. I dont think we can expect that only hope for it. Next season will not be any easier than this, but does promise to be more entertaining. The only thing that is certain is that we will be in the Championship next year

What happens when we lose players like King?..... look at the quality of teams likely to be relegated...... look at the 3 teams that will miss out in the playoffs...... look at the teams who just missed out on playoffs...... look at the teams coming up ...... remember AT could take advantage of the negative situation he inherited wont have that next season it will be an expectation of results ...... AT was able to take advantage of the fact teams expected us to play hoofball....... how will we replace the players that leave?...... is there any funds for transfers?...... will teams find ways to counter AT's formation?...... Is there a plan B? ..... will the injured players come back as strong as they were?..... How will AT deal with a bad run of results? .....What happens when we get injuries to key players?......... How much tangible support will the Board give AT?......these variables and many others say to me that a season in the top half and even a finish just outside the playoffs would be a very good season come May 2012

At the risk of sounding churlish ........ I have been entertained these last 10 games but the reality is we have taken 14 out of 30 points ...... hardly championship form, and that is with one of the best strikers in the league in King. Lets not get carried away. We have something to build on ..... will depend what is built.

Am much more positive about the team than i was before AT took over..... doesnt stop a cold realism though

For me its aim for the top, expect to be entertained and hope to be close to the mix (ie top half)come end of next season

I would think mid table would be expectable but ideally we want to be cracking on further up the table in order to keep some optimism, its something I feel is possible for the club especially if we keep some players. I think we will be ok even if we loose some players, i'm sure there will be contingencies in place and well we have the best man for the job in terms of bringing people to the club. As for Norwich I don't quite agree... teams coming back up always do better, Leicester for instance finished quite high when they came up if I recall. Also Norwich has a great board and are more stable than us. In terms of the teams coming down, I would also say not to judge ! Look at the likes of Portsmouth and Middlesbrough, you never know what's going to happen with a club in terms of loosing players, finances etc... the league is harder and closer than you think.

On paper with the squad we're likely to end up with next season bottom third of the table would be a realistic expectation.

If thorn can get the best out of what he's got and exceed the sum of its parts top half isnt impossible but until the financial situation is resolved its almost impossible to know what team will be turning out next year.

one thing AB did get right was when he said what's the point setting your expectations lower than first

I'm not sure if going for promotion next season would be too soon.. We've seen it happen to many clubs.. I think a safe bet would be to see what kind of player we can attract next season, and go from there.

These last ten games have been a source of optimism without a doubt and despite my original caution I am glad AT has got the job when he did. In response to the question I think it would be prudent to see what the summer brings in regards to player commings and goings before speculating on an aim. Our financial situation is going to have a huge bearing on the on field success, and those clubs that come down will have bigger parachute payments available which will give them an advantage at some level and perhaps drive up player fees and wages even for Championship level players.

I would like to see us as a finacially stable and viable club maybe that would be a more pragmatic aim? It will be interesting to see how Southampton do next season, so far teams that have recently dropped to league 1 and bounced back up have done very well and seem to be in sound finacial positions (I am not advocating wanting to drop to league 1, just making an observation).

promotion,.that should be the aim for every team every year

you think likes of norwich/blackpool etc thought they were primed for promotion at start if the year? there always seems to be a shock, we can be that team next year

Shoot for the moon Rich and if you fail you'll land among the stars :)

I think we should not aim for CL football but CL winners or maybe even World Club Champions 2015 :)
