Leaned not learned. And no-one has supported SISU, they supported the club in the stance over the stadium. You really need to learn to read properly.

Yeah, which in that scenario means SISU!

Why were they staying away in the PL?

We never had an average crowd as low as this in the pl.

Why do you think Portsmouth's fans have deserted them?

It wasn't far off, it was about 15k in the PL. how many did Southampton and Norwich have in league one?

Strange as I remember 20k regularly in the late 90's.

They both got good crowds due to owners that care and success on the pitch.

What crowds should a 16th placed 3rd division club get?

What did they expect?

Easy looking at it with retrospect Stu but it doesn't diminish from the fact that most people won't pay to watch a team struggle year after year. I'd be curious to know the 99/00 attendance figures, anyway-may help to prove my point.

Off the top of my head it was just under 21k.

Fans took the top flight for granted, thought we'd always be there etc. People got fed up with the yearly relegation battles, hence why people couldn't be arsed.

My point entirely....they can't be arsed. We have one of the worst fan bases. And I'm not being pro sisu here. If fans don't come it reduces revenue, meaning players have to be sold and wage bills reduced meaning lower quality meaning less fans, etc.

You dont think success bring in more fans?

We were getting gates of 20k when sisu rolled into town. Its up to the football club to provide a decent team for fans to support.Ccfc are selling us a product, not the other way around.

But as a club who have lost 10,000 fans off their average attendance in a decade, there is clear potential for growth that should attract potential buyers. Not to mention that success-much more attainable in L1 than The Premiership-creates a buzz and excitement that will increase gates in a way that year after year of relegation battles can't.

Yes of course, but even when it look like we were close to play offs people didnt bother.

We haven't been in a Playoff position once all season. This is L1-that is not success for CCFC.

Most of those extras were motivated by a new ground. The support by last season returned to the normal level of support.

Many claimed we were going up at the start of the season with a great squad and a popular manager. First game against the biggest opponents in the league and we had 14,000 in attendance.

If, as you say, last season was our normal support level, then doesn't that show how rock solid our support is?

I mean, the worst season in 50 years yet our support remained normal.

I've always thought that the stay away fans were perhaps justified in their decisions on the basis that they are consumers and have choices about where to take their hard earned cash.

Over the many years since the cup win Coventry City should thank the core of 10000 who have gone up season after season, witnessing poor quality on the field and poor off field management.

The problem at the moment is that fans have reached the tipping point. In my opinion a large number will choose to step back and go up to the stadium less. Fewer season ticket holders and fewer walk ups because we are uncertain about what is actually left of this once great club.

My head says I should buy a season ticket regardless of outcome.. Problem is, I am a consumer of Coventry City (Not Football) and at the moment we are at out lowest point. Some would argue that we should go up because we are real fans......Yet we are killing the club slowly if SISU remain in charge. My head says do not buy.

I speak to loads of season ticket holders who have decided not to go up regularly, some saying that they will still look out for the results..... Other's simply punch drunk and disillusioned with the whole club/game as it stands.

The last 3 seasons at Highfield Road had average league attendances of 16,055, 14,816, 14,812

What were our league positions?

You can argue the do's and don'ts all you like chaps but the fact is the poll that keeps popping up tells us and hopefully any watching SISU employees that we don't want you, you utterly fucked up the club, took the wrong directions for the whole duration, tried to distress a legitimate company in order to gain property on the cheap, alienated fans with your orange goons and heavy handed reactions to protest, left the club in its worst state probably ever since foundation and possibly lost a few quid in the process { Diddums}. Please just piss off now though because 76% of us won't follow you to Northants or yam yam country or anywhere else and I'd imagine a fair few of us won't give you any more money to misappropriate while you still have tenure over our frozen bank accounts !!!

Sisu came in with fan optimism and gates could have been held at 20k + if we had success. We didn't we flopped and the gate dropped year on year, whilst average gates in the championship held steady. Relegation and more failure took us to the lowest gates since the 60s.
Success would have got us average gates of over 20k, no doubts. Sadly Sisu bought us 6 seasons of failure.

Gates were in decline when they took over.

We were failing before they got here, but we were in the Championship with gates of 19k. Their job was to improve things!
Instead we got season after season of failure and relegation. Lower gates come with failure it wasn't inevitable. Or are you suggesting the owners of the club can't do anything to improve gates?
You really are an appalling apologist for Sisu, embarrassing.

The gate was 19k when they came, 2.5k had already been lost after the initial new ground appeal had started to rub off.

And lower gates mean less income mean less money to invest in players. Ranson said at the start we needed to average 22k to break even. We didnt, so they had to sell.

Yes and what is it now. Ours kept on falling whilst other clubs maintained their gates because of failure on the pitch, it ain't rocket science.

There are half a dozen posters on here who accept the reality and the truth but they have dug themselves and their vital little cyber egos such a hole that at every opportunity they still come back to defend their ridiculous stance.
