No other offers for players according to rumours
Coventry City yet may keep striker Marlon King and goalkeeper Keiren Westwood.
There are rumours doing the rounds that the Sky Blues are the only ones to have actually put a deal on the table and that any other interest including reported interest from Leicester City and Everton for Westwood is just media speculation.
City have offered the duo who are both out of contract on June 30th at midnight, deals which need to be either accepted or rejected by the middle of June,

What is worrying about that if I am honest, is how the deadline was apparently mid way through or towards the end of this month according to AT but now the goalposts have now apparently been moved according to this.

I'm getting quite annoyed with this now and sorry if you are offended.

There is no "apparently", it HAS, I repeat HAS been moved as the FA got involved and said that Thorn can't set a deadline before their contracts have expired as it is against the laws of the game.

How strange would that be if they didn't get another offer? Not likely, buy not impossible! Especially in Marlons case I would of thought.

Wow. Cov king chris sounds quite grumpy. Chill, it's good news at the minute. Also, as I write this, blues are going down and wolves are one goal from joining them. It's all good

Its quite early for bids to be coming in. A bit strange if people weren't looking to put bids in for Marlon and Westwood though as they would be great assets to anyone seeing as there free.

Sorry But it just annoys me because I see the same question everyday on here, and like 3 times a day on the facebook page, and about 4 people answer them with different answers. I also see the answer in the news pretty much everyday. It just seems that people read what they want to read.

Well I am not surprised there have been no other firm offers as our season has finished but the football season has not finished.
Now that the Premiership has finished I think they will get some firm offers in the next 2-3 weeks or so

Now that the Premiership season is over, there may well be offers of contracts for both of them; it's no surprise that nothing has happened yet. I really hope that Marlon stays with us. As for Westwood, I would like him to stay too, but I get the feeling that a deal was done a long time ago..........

Not offended mate just in awe at the stupidity of some of the replies on this forum, ie yours.
It's not against the 'laws of the game' the club can say sign those contracts by this date or the offer will be withdrawn. Contracts are legally binding when they are signed and not before.
Now I am certain the club removed the deadline simply because they desperately want the players to sign and the ball is totally in the players' court.
You know nothing more or less than most of us on here, all we know is that offers have been made, the club set signing deadlines which have passed but offers are still on the table.
Sorry if you are offended, don't get the football association police on me.

While the legality thing is new to me, it was reported that the deadline of last week wasn't actually the deadline not long after the original story came about.

In the news it said something along the lines of "the FA stepped in, making the club withdraw the deadlines on the players contract offers as it is against the laws of the game."

Chill Chris mate!!! you are absolutely correct with the comments, i think what people might be getting mixed up with is that AT said they had 21 days after the contracts where offered but that is a presonal thing imo and not an FA thing, i think he will start actioning his wanted list after 21 days if they haven't got back to him with some sort of committment, of which Marlon is showing at the moment, not sure about the other 2, this is my perseption of it, hope this make a little sense, cheers up chris mate, everything seems to be good at the moment. I would love to see the court which tried to say that we couldn't revoke the offer of a contract before it had been signed.

Offer and acceptance form the basis of any legal contract and as such without consideration (promise for a promise) from both sides, any offer is not binding. It forms the very basics of our judicial system and any ruling to the contrary would open up a real can of worms and be an administrative nightmare for the entire legal system. This is Kindergarten level business law stuff.
